Amman Opera Festival Prepares for Its Second Round with Opera La Boheme
Following the unprecendented success of La Traviata performances , that were held at the Roman Amphitheater on July 22nd, The Amman Opera Festival, founded by Soprano Zeina Barhoum is preparing to present performances of Opera La Boheme during the 2nd round of the festival that is set to be held early fall 2018. More concerts and events are planned for the 2nd edition, details of which will be revealed at a later date.
The Amman Opera Festival was made possible by the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein, who has confirmed her continuing support of the festival for its second edition year.
Zeina Barhoum's motivation behind this initiative is to plant the seeds towards growing the opera culture in Jordan and the Arab world, and perhaps inspire the building of a purpose-built Opera House in Jordan's Capital, Amman, joining the company of other Arab states such as Oman and the UAE.
La Bohème is based on Henri Murger's novel, Scènes de la vie de bohème, a collection of vignettes portraying young bohemians living in the Latin Quarter of Paris in the 1840s.
Amman Opera Festival is supported by Greater Amman Municipality, with the Strategic Partnership of The Ministry of Tourism and Jordan Tourism Board, Embassy of The People's Republic of China, Embassy of Italy and Embassy of Georgia in Jordan with Royal Jordanian Airlines as the official carrier. The official sponsoring hotels include Marriott, Rotana Towers, Arjaan Rotana, The Sheraton and Crowne Plaza.
