Ahmed Al Fishawy Launches Crystal Dog in the UAE
Following his return from Cannes Film Festival, where he represented both his companies, Crustal Dog and Friends, in the second edition of Arab Cinema Center (ACC) which was held within the Festival's film market, actor and producer Ahmed Al Fishawy announced the launch of the new Crystal Dog headquarters in Dubai Media City in the UAE. Al Fishawy expressed his hope to expand his work from local film production to international filmmaking.
Crystal Dog was established by Al Fishawy in 2014. The company's name was inspired by a glass artwork that caught Al Fishawy's attention during one of his trips which was created by Swarovski, an Austrian glass artwork designer. The company aims to produce international level films with attention grabbing content that can help improve the local and regional film industry. The company's repertoire varies between full production work and providing production services throughout the different stages of filmmaking, beginning with plot development and even post-production. Crystal Dog is currently working on a number of new film projects taking full advantage of Al Fishawy's experience and relationships in various artistic fields.
In addition, Crystal Dog has co-produced Out of Order starring Ahmed Al Fishawy and Shereen Reda. The film psychologically stimulates the audience by taking them on a journey through the relationship between two people who are complete opposites. Saeed (Al Fishawy) lives a secluded, pathetic, and almost homeless life, while Huda (Shereen Reda) lives alone, only observing life from the sidelines.
It is noteworthy that Al Fishawy is also co-founder of Friends; a company that was established in the early 80's by his parents, Farouk Al Fishawy and Somaya Al alfy, to present films that fully express what they aim for as actors who are interested in cinema, prove that cinema is an industry of art and culture, and improve the quality of Egyptian films. Friends has produced Appeal from the Other World and Meshwar Omar (Omar's Journey), both of which are considered classics in Egyptian cinema. Now, Friends is back to production work to express its foremost goal; achieving its owners' vision in the art of filmmaking.
