DOP Ahmad Al Morsy has won the Best Cinematography Award at the 19th National Festival for Egyptian Cinema for his work on Aswar Al Amar, raising the tally to six awards received by the celebrated DOP. This is also Al Morsy's second win of the same award after he snapped it up for his film Messages from the Sea two years ago.

Written by Mohamed Hefzy and directed by Tarek El'eryan, Aswar Al Amar is stars Mona Zaki, Asser Yassin, and Amr Saad. The film also holds the record as the second film over the world to be shot using ARRI D21 camera in 2009.

Ahmad Al Morsy began his professional career as DOP in the independent film La Violence et la Derision (2003) by director Asmaa El Bakry, making him the youngest DOP in Egypt at the time. Al Morsy's repertoire includes numerous films, such as The Best of Times (2004) by director Hala Khalil, Malek wa ketaba (2006) by director Kamla Abu Zekry, in addition to his collaboration with director Daoud Abdel Sayed on his film Messages from the Sea (2010), which was Egypt's official submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film and won Al Morsy the Artistic Excellence award from the Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries. Al Morsy also worked on director Marwan Hamed's The Blue Elephant, which was a box office smash hit in Egypt in 2014. For The Blue Elephant, he won Best Cinematography award at the Egyptian Film Association Festival in 2015 for the second time following his win for Al Haflam in 2013.
