Advanced Media Hosts a Workshop about RED Camera and Cinematography For the First Time in Egypt
For the first time in Egypt, Advanced Media Trading LLC, one of the Arab world's largest suppliers of broadcast, professional video and photography equipment, is hosting a workshop, in cooperation with RED Digital Cinema and MAD Solutions, about the RED cameras and cinematography on Monday, November 27 at 7:00 PM at ROOM Art Space & Cafe in Cairo.
The workshop will feature DOP Ahmad Al Morsy as a speaker, as well as Matthew Collins, Technical Support Engineer at RED Digital Cinema. During the workshop, Al Morsy and Collins will be presenting the newest available models of RED cameras and how to obtain the maximum benefit out of them in cinematography.
For more than 20 years working as a DOP in the film industry, DOP Ahmad Al Morsy presented more than 50 films and won six awards for four of his films. Al Morsy shot more than 1000 TV commercials. He worked with many Egyptian directors from different generations with various directions such as: Daoud Abdel Sayed, Marwan Hamed, Asmaa El-Bakry, Kamla Abouzekri, Hadi El Bagoury, Mohamed Khan, Mohamed Yassine, Yousry Nasrallah and Sherif Arafa.
Al Morsy became the youngest DOP in Egypt with his debut film Violence And Sarcasm (2003), followed by Heads And Tails (2006), Messages from the Sea (2010), Egypt's official submission to the Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film, which he received three awards for. Later, he shot the films Wahed Saheh (2011), Al Hafla (2013), then The Blue Elephant, which topped the charts at the Egyptian box office in 2014, and The Originals (2017).
RED Digital Cinema is the leading manufacturer of professional digital cinema cameras. In 2006, RED began a revolution with the 4K RED ONE digital cinema camera. By 2008, RED released the DSMC (Digital Stills and Motion Camera) system that allowed the same camera to be used on features like The Hobbit trilogy, The Martian, and Emmy-winning shows like House of Cards and others.

Advanced Media Trading LLC, a partner of the Arab Cinema Center (ACC),held a number of lectures and workshops during last October. The workshops included the Long Exposure Photography Workshop by Shadi Al Refai, "Lighting Your Subject" Portrait Photography Workshop by professional photographer Ali Al Rifai, in addition to a lecture entitled DJI Ronin 2 Experience that discussed the advanced features and versatility of the Ronin 2 and how it can help to save time and lower production costs. The lecture was conducted by Mr. Pejman Ghorbani, Senior Product Manager at Advanced Media.
Organized by MAD Solutions in 2015, the Arab Cinema Center (ACC) is an international promotional platform for Arab cinema as it provides the filmmaking industry with a professional window to connect with their counterparts from all over the world through a number of events that it organizes. The ACC also provides networking opportunities with representatives of companies and institutions specialized in co-production and international distribution, among others. The Center's activities vary between film market main wings, introduction and networking sessions for Arab and foreign filmmakers, welcome parties, as well as meetings with international organizations and festivals, and the issuance of the Arab Cinema Magazine to be distributed at the leading international film festivals and markets.
Furthermore, newsletter subscription is now available on the ACC's website, allowing users to obtain digital copies of the Arab Cinema Magazine, as well as news on the ACC's activities, notifications of application dates for grants, festivals and offers from educational and training institutions, updates on Arab films participating at festivals, exclusive news on the Arab Cinema LAB, and highlights from the ACC partners and their future projects.
The ACC also launched an English-language Arab Cinema Guide, available on its website, which is a comprehensive cinematic guide that comprises a variety of tools presented collectively for the first time to offer information on Arab cinema to filmmakers inside and outside of the Arab world. It also aims to facilitate filmmakers' access to international markets and help film industry representatives to easily identify Arab film productions.
Since the beginning of 2017, the ACC has made 19 stops at international festivals and markets. The festivals attended are the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR), Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), Beirut Cinema Platform (BCP) held within the Beirut Cinema Days, Istanbul Film Festival, Tripoli Film Festival, the 34th WIPO SCCR in Geneva, Cannes Film Festival, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Eurasia International Film Festival, Festival del film Locarno, Venice International Film Festival,Toronto International Film Festival, Film and Television Careers Connection (FTCC), San Sebastian International Film Festival, Malmo Arab Film Festival, Cape Town International Film Market & Festival (CTIFMF), Days of Cinema in Palestine, MedFilm Festival in Italy and the LatinArab Co-Production Forum.
