A Drowning Man and Between Sisters at the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts
The short film A Drowning Man by Mahdi Fleifel and the documentary Between Sisters by Manu Gerosa are going to screen at the 20th Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts (April 11-17). A Drowning Man is going to be screened at the Short Film Competition,while Between Sisters is going to be screened at the Golden Program.

The screening of Between Sisters will be followed by a Q&A with its director Manu Gerosa and screenwriter Valentina Toldo. The film won the Best Documentary Film award at the 19th Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts.

The current edition of the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts will be showcasing 62 films from 48 Arab and foreign countries, in addition to the festival's 20th anniversary celebration program that includes 52 films from different countries, making the total number of countries participating in this year's edition around 60 countries.

About A Drowning Man

A Drowning Man was nominated forthe BAFTA Award for Best British Short Film. The film is a co-production between Denmark, UK and Greece. Alone and far from home, The Kid makes his way through a strange city looking for the means to get through his day. Surrounded by predators he is forced to make compromises merely to survive, his life of exile grows one day longer.

Written and directed by Mahdi Fleifel, A Drowning Man stars Atef Alshafei, Jalal Qaniry, Mounir Alkhateeb, Rebih El-Saleous and Thymios Koukios. The film is produced by Final Cut for Real, Nakba Film Works, and distributed by MAD Solutions in the Arab world, while Salaud Morisset is handling the film's world sales.

About Between Sisters

The two Italian sisters Ornella and Teresa have cared for each other through their whole lives. Teresa is now in her life's twilight and having problems facing fate, whilst her memory is slowly fading out. Before it's too late, Ornella decides to confront Teresa with a painful untold story that goes back to their childhood and might change their close bond forever.

Between Sisters is directed by Manu Gerosa. The film is a co-production between Italy, Belgium and Qatar. The film received grants from the Doha Film Institute and Dok. Incubator. Between Sisters wasscreened at several international film festivals including the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), Budapest International Documentary Film Festival and the Bahamas International Film Festival. The film won many awards from prestigious festivals in the US, Spain, Italy, Poland, Mexico and Egypt. Between Sisters isdistributed by MAD Solutions.
