5 Screenings for UNDER THE FIG TREES at Cannes Film Festival
Ergie Sehiri’s feature film UNDER THE FIG TREES has landed its world premiere at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, which kicked off May 17 and will conclude on May 28, where it will compete in Directors' FortnightUNDER THE FIG TREES will have five screenings; the first screening will be on Wednesday, May 18 at 4:30 p.m., French time (GMT +2), followed by a second screening on Saturday, May 21 at 3 p.m., and a third screening on Sunday, May 22 at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and finally 1:45 p.m.

UNDER THE FIG TREES marks the feature debut of director Erige Sehiri, whose works also include the award-winning film Railway Men. The film project previously earned the MAD Solutions and El Gouna Film Festival awards at the Final Cut in Venice workshop, as well as the post-production prize at the Marrakech International Film Festival's Atlas Workshops.
 
The film revolves around a strong bond that flourishes between the young summer harvest workers  in the shade of trees. Between flirting, feelings of attraction and denial, a deep connection develops between the young men and women as they try to understand one another.
 
UNDER THE FIG TREES is a co-production between Tunisia (Henia Production), Switzerland (Akka Films), and France (Maneki Films). Luxbox handles the film’s distribution globally, while MAD Solutions handles the film’s distribution and marketing in the Arab region.
