The Rifle, The Jackal, The Wolf and the Boy to Take Part in the Carthage Film Festival


With the presence of the film's director Oualid Mouaness, The Rifle, The Jackal, The Wolf and The Boy film will screen as part of Focus Lebanon atthe 30th Carthage Film Festival (26 October to 2 November). The filmis distributed in the Arab world by MAD Solutions and had huge screenings as part of the Oscars Shorts Programme in a number of Arab countries.

First launched in 1961, the Carthage Film Festival is the oldest event of its kind in the African continent and the Arab World. This year, the festival will screen a roster of 170 films from 60 countries in its different sections, with a total of 44 feature and documentary films from 40 countries including nine Arab countries participating in its Official Competition.

In a rural forest in Lebanon, two brothers cross the line when they use a household rifle without their father's consent to unsettling results. Written and directed by Oualid Mouaness, The Rifle, The Jackal, The Wolf and The Boy stars Fidel Badran, Ali Mneimneh, Jad Badran and Layal Ghanem. The film is produced by Jinana Chaaya and Oualid Mouaness and was shortlisted for the2017 Academy Award for Best Live-Action Short Film and screened at more than 20 international film festivals. Additionally, it reaped the Jury Award at the Short to the Point International Film Festival

Most recently, the film has taken part in Haifa Independent Film Festival, the Lebanese Short Films Night Programme and the Lebanese Film Festival; moreover ithad four full-house screenings in Egyptian cities, as part of the Oscars Shorts Programme and screened atCinescape, Kuwait. The Oscars Shorts Programme includes five Arab short films from MAD Solutions' list of distribution films that made it or were nominated to the Oscars.
