The Red Carpet Was Rolled Out Again For An Additional Screening of A Day for Women at the CIFF


After the warm reception that Kamla Abouzekri's film A Day for Women has earned by the critics and audience at its premiere as the opening film of the 38th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), the red carpet was rolled out again to receive the film's cast and crewat an additional screening today, Thursday, at 9:30 PM at the Great Hall of the Cairo Opera House.

Right after the screening of the film, film critic Tarek El-Shenawy will run a seminar to discuss the film in details with the film's producer ElhamShahin, who also stars in the film, and the cast Mahmoud Hemida, Farouk Al Fishawy,Nelly Karim,Nahed El Sebai, and Ahmad Al Fishawy.

With the attendance of many public figures, celebrities, and the press, along with the film's cast and crew, A Day for Womenopened the 38th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) (November 15-24) last Tuesday, within the festival's Official Competition.

A Day for Womenhad its world premiere at the 60th BFI London Film Festival, run by the British Film Institute (BFI), within the Debate Strand section.

A Day for Women takes place in a shabby neighborhood in Egypt where a youth center decides to allocate one day on the swimming pool for women only. The film follows the consequences of this decision on the social, psychological and emotional life of the women living in that neighborhood.

A Day for Women brings together a cast and crew of outstanding women, as it is produced by Elham Shahin through her company Shahin Film, who also stars in the film, directed by KamlaAbouzekri, written by HanaaAtiyah, DOP Nancy Abdel Fattah, and Costume Designer InasShahin. The film stars Nelly Karim, Nahed El Sebai, HalaSedqi, Ragaa Hussein, ShaimaaSeif, along with Mahmoud Hemida, Farouk Al Fishawy, Ahmad Al Fishawy, EyadNassar, and Ahmed Dawood.

The film marks ElhamShahin's third experience as a producer after Hazz West El Balad (2015) by director Salah Abu Seif and Fawzeya's Secret Recipe (2005) by director Magdy Ahmed Aly. With a repertoire of more than 120 various works, including films, plays and TV dramas, actress Elham Shahin has won many awards from international film festivals including; Best Actress award at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival (Fawzeya's Secret Recipe) and the Horus Award at the Cairo National Festival for Egyptian Cinema (The Desire).

Director KamlaAbouzekri's filmography includes; One-Zero (2009), which competed at many international film festivals such as the Venice Film Festival and received more than 45 awards, Heads and Tails (2006), and An Al EshqWalHawa (2006). As for TV dramas, Abouzekri directed Bent EsmahaZaat(A Girl Called Zaat) (2013), and Segn El Nesaa (Women's Prison) (2014) that achieved the top most-watched TV dramas during Ramadan season.
