The Double Releases in Egyptian Theaters by MAD Solutions
Coinciding with its US and international release, and following its success in the United Kingdom and the Gulf, MAD Solutions will release Emirati producer Amina Dasmal's The Double in Egyptian theatres in May 2014.

MAD Solutions in collaboration with Front Row Entertainment, the distributor of The Double in the MENA region, will be releasing the film in Egypt. The film hit screens at the start of the current month, in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.

Co-founded by Emirati producer Amina Dasmal and British producer Robin Fox, The Double is the latest film production by Alcove Entertainment. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), and is directed by Richard Ayoade.
Adapted for the big screen by writer Avi Korine and Ayoade from Fyodor Dostoevsky's celebrated novella by the same name.

The film tells the story of Simon a timid man, scratching out an isolated existence in an indifferent world. He is overlooked at work, scorned by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. He feels powerless to change any of these things. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the balance. James is both Simon's exact physical double and his opposite - confident, charismatic and good with women. To Simon's horror, James slowly starts taking over his life.

In January, 2014, The Double competed in Sundance Film Festival, one of the most prominent independent film festivals in the US, within the Spotlight program, which aims to honour the best film achievements from across the world. The Double also won the Best Actor Award for Jesse Eisenberg within the New Horizons Competition at the 7th Abu Dhabi Film Festival. This came after the film's participation at the Official Competition at Tokyo International Film Festival and 57th BFI London Film Festival.

The film received an 88% fresh certification on Rotten Tomatoes, one of the top film review aggregator websites. The film also received an average of a 7.5 rating on IMDb, which is considered the world's biggest international film database on the internet.

The Double is the sophomore directorial effort of Richard Ayoade, the actor turned director known for his works in British TV comedies such as The Mighty Boosh and The IT Crowd. Ayoade describes The Double as a film highlighting the concepts of solitude and human need to love and be loved.

The film is a Film4 and BFI presentation of an Alcove Entertainment production in association with Protagonist Pictures, with executive producers Michael Caine (MCPictures), Tessa Ross (Film4), Graeme Cox (Attercop) and Nigel Williams.

Since starting Alcove Entertainment in 2005, Amina Dasmal has produced a number of successful films that have covered several genres on an international level, as well as receiving many awards and recognition for her work in the cinema industry. In 2009, Amina was featured by Arabian Business magazine as one of the top business women under 30. Moreover, she was included in the 50 most powerful business women in the Middle East in 2008 by Forbes Magazine. In 2011, she earned the 27th place in the Arabian Business magazine in their list of the 100 most powerful business women in the Arab business field.
