The 48 Hour Film returns once again to Cairo on October 22nd, 2015 for the 4th consecutive year. The most popular film making competition in the world which has become a huge success in Cairo will invite filmmakers of all different ages, backgrounds and levels of experience to take on the challenge of making a short film, from scratch, in only 48 hours.
Each year, approximately teams compete, with the support of Canon Middle East, MAD Solutions and Darb1718 for a wild and sleepless weekend where hundreds of filmmakers take to the streets to complete their short films in less than 48 hours. In 2014, the Cairo finalist, "Tarrot", made by "Nawash" won the "Best Film" in Cairo and was featured at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood where it competed against 130 other city winners. Their film was also selected to the Cannes ٍShort Film Corner as one of the best 15 films of 2014's 48-hour Film Project -marking the first time a film from Cairo achieves this unprecedented landmark.
The Project will kick off on October 22nd this year, and it will once again give the local filmmaking community a chance to challenge themselves and challenge each other in what has become, by far, the most exciting and anticipated filmmaking competition in the region. In addition, some of the best films from previous years will be screened on Sunday 18 October at 07:30 pm in Zawya.
