Short Film Amin by Ahmed Abuelfadl Wins Four Awards in Cinema Palace


Amin by Ahmed Abuelfadl has won four Awards at the 2nd Attempt Films Connection that was closed on Thursday, September 10, taking place in The General Authority of Cultural Palaces' Cinema Palace. The awards are Best Short Fiction Film, Samir Seif's Award for Best Direction, Lenin EL Ramly's Award for Best Screenwriting and Abd El Aziz Fahmy's Award for Best Cinematography (Ahmed Ashour).

The film has previously landed its world premiere at the Cairo International Film Festival within the Cinema of Tomorrow competition. The film has also received the Youssef Chahine Grant from Misr International Films.

In 2019, the ministry of culture finds a rare 16mm footage that was shot by the late famous Egyptian director Shadi Abdel Salam. Amin decides to protect the rare film negative from Mohamed Fayez, a notorious film director. In his journey to do so, he meets his regrets and unfulfilled dreams.
Written, produced and directed by Ahmed Abuelfadl,the film is co-written by Mohamed el Masry and stars Bassam Mortada. MAD Solutions handles the film's distribution in the Arab world.

Director, writer, editor and colorist Ahmed Abuelfadl received his bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from Cairo University in 2007. After practicing dentistry for 3 years, he decided to make a career shift and study Filmmaking in High Cinema Institute in Cairo, where he graduated in 2014.

He started his film career as a writer and critic, then he directed his debut short film in 2013, a short documentary called Cairo from 5 to 7, followed by his short film Amin.

He also works as an editor and colorist for different projects that vary from fiction to documentary and experimental. Besides, he teaches filmmaking for postgraduates at Ain Shams University as well as in Jesuit Cairo film school.
