Shahin Film Releases A Day For Women's Teaser Poster for the Arab World


Ahead of landing as a festival opener at 38th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) in two weeks' time, (15-24 November), Shahin Film has released the teaser poster for the Arab world of the new film A Day For Women, by Kamla Abouzekri. Starring Elham Shahin along with an ensemble of A-list Egyptian stars, the film will contend within the International Competition.

Designed by MAD Solutions, the teaser poster of A Day For Women features a swimming pool full of a group of men who seem to be fighting over something, which suggests that the film is not only about women.

Last October, A Day for Women landed its world premiere at the 60th edition of the British Film Institute's London Film Festival (BFI London Film Festival) within the Debate Strand section. Simultaneously at the time, Shahin Film released the first international teaser poster of the film.

A Day for Women takes place in a shabby neighborhood in Egypt where a youth center decides to allocate one day on the swimming pool for women only. The film follows the consequences of this decision on the social, psychological and emotional life of the women living in that neighborhood.

A Day for Women brings together a cast and crew of outstanding women, as it is produced by Elham Shahin through her company Shahin Film, who also stars in the film, directed by Kamla Abouzekri, written by Hanaa Atiyah, DOP Nancy Abdel Fattah, and Costume Designer Inas Shahin. The film stars Nelly Karim, Nahed El Sebai, Hala Sedqi, Ragaa Hussein,Shaimaa Seif, along with Mahmoud Hemida, Farouk Al Fishawy, Ahmad Al Fishawy, Eyad Nassar, and Ahmed Dawood.

ElhamShahin's filmography as a producer includes Hazz West El Balad (2015) by director Salah Abu Seif and Fawzeya's Secret Recipe (2005) by director Magdy Ahmed Aly. With a repertoire of more than 120 works which are various from films, plays and TV dramas, actress Elham Shahin has been awarded many awards from international film festivals including; Best Actress award at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival (Fawzeya's Secret Recipe) and the Horus Award at the Cairo National Festival for Egyptian Cinema (The Desire).

Director Kamla Abouzekri's filmography includes; One-Zero (2009), which competed at many international film festivals such as the Venice Film Festival and received more than 45 awards, Heads and Tails (2006), and An Al Eshq Wal Hawa (2006). As for TV dramas, Abouzekri directed Bent Esmaha Zaat (A Girl Called Zaat), and Segn El Nesaa (Women's Prison) that achieved the top most-watched TV dramas during Ramadan season.

Founded by the Egyptian Association of Film Writers and Critics in 1976, CIFF is the only festival in the Arab world and Africa that has been accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) in Paris, along with other 13 international film festivals. This year, the CIFF lands its 38th edition (15-24 November), which will be headed by film critic Magda Wassef in her capacity as the Festival President, and joined by the salient film critic Youssef Cherif Rizkallah as the Artistic Director and star Mahmoud Hemida as the Honorary Director of the festival.
