Screening of Documentary Bezness as Usual at the La Cinematheque De Tunis on Thursday, December 20

La Cinémathèque De Tunis will screen the documentary film Bezness as Usual by Dutch director Alex Pitstra on Thursday, December 20. The screening is part of a cycle of documentaries made by foreign filmmakers who have special links with Tunisia. MAD Solutions is handling the film's distribution across the Arab world.

Dutch filmmaker Alex Pitstra was 25 years old when he received a letter from his Tunisian father, whom he hadn't seen since his early childhood and wanted to meet him. In the 10 years that follow, Alex tries to build a relationship with his newly found family in Tunisia. He also convinces his Swiss half-sister Jasmin to do the same. In this fascinating family saga, Alex has to cope with intercultural misunderstandings and failed expectations between his father and himself, but also has to address the relationship with his Dutch mother. What role should he play as a son of two cultures?

Written and directed by Alex Pitstra, Bezness as Usual tookpart in a number of prestigious film festivals around the world, such as Locarno International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, International Bosphorus Film Festival, and Dubai International Film Festival, in addition to a number of film festivals in South Korea, Italy, Spain, and the USA. The film won the Wild Dreamer Award for Best Documentary at the Subversive Festival in Croatia and a Special Mention at the Festivalul International de Film Documentar (CRONOGRAF) in Moldova.
