Nine Films Distributed by MAD Solutions at the 2nd Mostra de Cinema Egipcio Contemporaneo in Brazil
Nine films distributed by MAD Solutions will screen at the 2nd Mostra de Cinema EgĂpcio ContemporĂ˘neo in Brazil (July 29-August 23). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the screenings will be held online exclusively for people living in Brazil, who will have to register (IDs, phone numbers, and cities) to get access to the films inside Brazil only.
The films are Between Two Seas by Anas Tolba, Egyptian Jeanne d?Arc by Iman Kamel, The Gate of Departure by Karim Hanafy, Les Petits Chats by Sherif Nakhla, I Have A Picture by Mohamed Zedan, Kiss Me Not by Ahmed Amer, Like a Matchstick (Zay Ood El Kabreet) by Hussein El Imam, Chaos, Disorder (Harag W' Marag) by Nadine Khan, and The Giraffe by Ahmed Magdy. The event will also screen other Egyptian films, including Sheikh Jackson, Blue Elephant: Dark Whispers, Out of the Ordinary, Villa 69, DĂ©cor, and Coming Forth by Day.
Mostra de Cinema EgĂpcio ContemporĂ˘neo is a program dedicated to screening Egyptian films at the movie theaters run by the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB). It is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism in Brazil.
About Between Two Seas
While on a short visit to her home village, a small rural island near Cairo, Zahra's daughter is exposed to a tragic accident. Following this incident, Zahra persists on getting her daughter's right and insists on not only continuing her education but also benefiting her community. The film sheds light on different societal issues faced by women, especially in rural areas.
Directed by Anas Tolba and written by Mariam Naoum, based on a script by Amany El Tounsy and Karim El Dalil, Between Two Seas stars Fatma Adel, Yara Goubran, Tharaa Goubail, Mahmoud Fares, Arfa Abdel Rassoul, and Lobna Wanas. The film is produced by Axeer and executive produced by Abdelrahman Al Garwani. MAD Solutions handles the film?s distribution and promotion in the Arab world.

About Egyptian Jeanne d?Arc
The documentary film Egyptian Jeanne d?Arc tells the true stories of resistance by Egyptian women since the outbreak of the revolution in 2011 through mythic story elements, poetic narration and dance. The film is directed by Iman Kamel, and co-produced by Nomad?s Home Production (Iman Kamel) and Linked Productions (Talal Al-Muhanna). The film marks Iman?s second collaboration with Kuwaiti producer Talal Al-Muhanna. Egyptian Jeanne d?Arc is distributed by MAD Solutions in the Arab world.

About The Gate of Departure
"You, who have always been here, you will be everywhere." The Gate of Departure is a story of a prophecy that has always haunted a son growing to manhood in his mother's desolated home. The son is unable to begin his journey beyond the boundaries of these walls repressed by feelings of guilt towards his mother, who chooses to imprison herself for the rest of her life, guarding her only son as she helplessly witnesses her beauty slipping away day by day. The sorrowful mother refuses to let go of the gift that life has granted her. Only a whirlwind of painful dreams that pave the way for her son's departure teaches her to accept her eternal solitude, thus opening the door for him to begin his long journey to himself.
Written and directed by Karim Hanafy, The Gate of Departure stars Salwa Khattab, Ahmed Magdy, Amaal Abdel Hady and Shams Labib. The film is produced by Khaial Art Production, with the support of Egypt's Ministry of Culture, and distributed by MAD Solutions.

About Les Petits Chats
Directed and produced by Sherif Nakhla, the film is named after the legendary band Les Petits Chats of the cherished era of the 60s and 70s. The six members, who are now major celebrities and musicians, are reunited to perform one last time in a night to remember in spring 2010. Les Petits Chats film is an insight into the lives of the former band-mates during their glory days that answers the questions evoked within each one of them by tracking their present lives and life choices since their breakup in the 80s. The film showcases interviews with major celebrities and cinema stars at that time and nowadays including: Ezzat Abu Oaf, Omar Khairat, Sobhy Bedeir, Samir Sabri and Mohamed Salmawy. About I Have A Picture
With the help of Kamal El Homossany, one of the oldest assistant directors in Egypt, Zedan, a young indie filmmaker, is making a documentary about Motawe Eweis, who has worked as an extra in about 1000 Egyptian films since the forties.
Directed and written by Mohamed Zedan, I Have A Picture: Film No. 1001 in the Life of the Oldest Extra in the World stars Kamal EL-Homossany, Motawe Eweis, and Zedan. The film crew includes DOP Mohamad EL-Hadidi and Music Composer Micheal Fawzy. The film is distributed in the Arab world by MAD Solutions.

About Kiss Me Not
Written and directed by Ahmed Amer, Kiss Me Not follows a young and ambitious Egyptian director who faces issues while shooting a kissing scene in his new film with the leading actress who decides to pursue a more religious path.
Kiss Me Not stars Yasmin Raeis, Mohamed Mahran, Salwa Mohamed Ali and Aida Riad with guest stars actress Sawsan Badr, late director Mohamed Khan and director Khairy Beshara as themselves. About Like a Matchstick (Zay Ood El Kabreet)
Zay Ood El Kabreet is a comedic tale invented by the late filmmaker Hussein Al Imam to pay tribute to the super stars of the Egyptian cinema's Golden Era. The plot combines scenes starring 21 actors from the age of black and white films with other scenes written by and starring Al Imam.
Along with Hussein Al Imam, the film stars Sahar Ramy, Khaled Mahrous, Zakaria Amer and singer Randa El-Sobky. The film is distributed by MAD Solutions in the Arab world.

About Chaos, Disorder (Harag W' Marag)
Produced and edited by Dina Farouk, Harag W' Marag (Chaos, Disorder) is Nadine Khan's feature debut. Khan penned the story herself, while the screenplay is written by Mohamed Nasser. The film stars Ayten Amer, Mohamed Farag, Ramsi Lehner, Hani El Metennawy, Osama Attia, great actor Sabry Abdel Menem and Sayed Ragab. Harag W' Marag is produced by WIKA Production & Distribution and is distributed worldwide by MAD Solutions.
Harag W' Marag is a social drama that tells the story of lost love in a controversial setting; Zaki (Farrag), Mounir (Lehner) and Manal (Ayten Amer) are in their twenties, and living in a confined community where basic needs are met yet chaos and disorder brew. The two boys are in love with the same girl who finds herself the subject of a bet for a football match between them, the winner marries Manal. This story reflects a football and play-station youth and how they deal with their emotions in a community that is increasingly closed off and isolated.
