MIRRORS OF SILENCE and PICKUP Screen at The NYUAD Arts Center, Abu Dhabi, on November 23rd
MAD Solutions will screen two short films from its distribution list on November 23, at 7:00 PM (GMT+3) at The NYUAD Arts Center in Abu Dhabi. The short films are PICKUP by Saleh Nass and MIRRORS OF SILENCE by Nawaf Al Janahi.
MIRRORS OF SILENCE is a short Emirati film by Nawaf Al Janahi. It follows a young man who is confronted by distressing loneliness; will he succeed in overcoming it? MIRRORS OF SILENCE won the Second Prize for Best Film at the MuslimFest Film Festival in Canada, and it was the only Emirati film to screen at the third edition of the Dubai International Film Festival. Also, It joined over 20 international film festivals in more than 15 countries, including Algeria's Oran International Arabic Film Festival and Egypt's Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentary and Short Films.
PICKUP revolves around a schoolgirl who is desperate to get home when faced with the embarrassment of being picked up from school by her father in his dusty old pickup truck. Undeterred, the father decides to take a detour and take his daughter on a small fishing trip. It was screened at the Carthage Film Festival and won the Best Screenplay award at the Bahrain Film Days Festival. PICKUP was written, directed, and produced by Saleh Nass and stars Jamaan Al Rowaiei and Hawra Fouad. It was edited by Saleh Nass and shot by Chaker Ben Yahmed.
