MAD Solutions and Ergo Awards Offered to The Life and Times of Omar Sharif at Cairo Film Connection


During the activities of the 6th Cairo Film Connection (CFC), held on the margins of the 41st Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), MAD Solutions and Ergo, Media Ventures presented their awards to the documentary feature The Life and Times of Omar Sharif by directors Mark Lotfy and Axel Petersén, and producers Sigrid Helleday and Muhammad Taymour. The award entails distribution services in the Arab World with $30,000 Minimum Guarantee to the filmmakers.

The Life and Times of Omar Sharif is a feature documentary film that depicts the life of Egyptian famous actor Omar Sharif. The late legend lived a life full of hundreds of characters that he took on -on and off-screen, glamour and gambling. The film examines the actor's life in the backdrop of the changing political landscapes of Egypt and Hollywood from 1932 to 2015.

MAD Solutions is always keen on presenting its award at international film festivals and markets. MAD previously offered similar awards at the Final Cut Workshop atthe Venice International Film Festival, Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland, where the award was dedicated to films from the Maghreb region,the MAFF Market Forum (MMF) of the Malmö Arab Film Festival in Sweden, the Palestine Cinema Days, and the Festival National du Film Professional Meetings in Tangier, Morocco.

Ergo continues to support promising Arab film projects by presenting awards in cooperation with various film festivals. Since its establishment, it has supported three projects through the CineGouna SpringBoard at the three editions of El Gouna Film Festival. This is the second time in a row that it has supported the Cairo Film Connection. It also comes as part of Ergo's endeavor to support Egypt's position as the nexus of the regional film industry; the place where regional creatives strive for recognition.

Cairo Industry Days provides an important space for discussions, networking sessions, meetings, workshops, masterclasses and partnership opportunities between Arab talents and regional and international key industry professionals to further support Arab Cinema.
