MAD Solutions Sends Two Films to Al Qattara Cinema Programme in UAE


MAD Solutions is sending two films at Al Qattara Cinema Programme in Al Ain, UAE, on Friday, January the 26th, from 08:00 to 10:00 pm (GMT+4). The two MAD films are Nearby Sky by director Nujoom Al Ghanem and Mirrors of Silence by director Nawaf Al Janahi. The film screenings are part of the programme organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi.

Al Qattara Cinema is a cinematic platform that brings Emirati films closer to the audiences, revealing the various artistic manifestations of these films that may not be available for commercial release in theaters.

About Nearby Sky

Nearby Sky tells the story of Fatima Alhameli, the first Emirati Female camel owner to personally enter her Camel into the Camel Beauty Pageants and take part in camel auctions in the UAE. Regardless of all the difficulties and challenges she encountered while trying to prove herself in one of the most male dominant domains, Fatima's wish to win in a race or a beauty pageant contest remains the only compensation to overcome her failures.

The film won the Best Non-Fiction Feature Award within the Muhr Feature Competition at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), in addition to taking part in the Helsinki Documentary Film Festival in Finland, the Hong Kong International Film Festival, and the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

About Mirrors of Silence
In a modern city, a young man is confronted by a distressing loneliness; will he succeed in overcoming it?
Directed by director Nawaf Al Janahi, the short film Mirrors of Silence won the Second Prize for Best Film at the annual MuslimFest in Canada. In 2006, the film was the only Emirati film screened in the official competition at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). Mirrors of Silence took part in more than 20 prestigious film festivals in more than 15 countries including; the International Arab Film Festival of Oran in Algeria and the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentary and Short Films in Egypt.
