MAD Solutions Sends Three Films to the ANA Contemporary Arab Cinema in New York


MAD Solutions is screening three films at the ANA Contemporary Arab Cinema in New York, USA. The films are The Reports on Sarah and Saleem by Muayad Alayan, The Journey by Mohamed Al Daradji, and Les Petits Chats by Sherif Nakhla. The festival will take place from September 20-27 in Pleasantville, New York and from September 29 to October 4 in Brooklyn.

Housed at the Jacob Burns Film Center, the ANA Contemporary Arab Cinema is an annual film series that highlights award-winning films by today's best Arab directors.

About The Reports on Sarah and Saleem:

The Reports on Sarah and Saleem is written by Rami Alayan and directed by Muayad Alayan. Set in Jerusalem, Sarah and Saleem are having an extramarital affair that ignites a dangerous game of deceit between those who hold power and those who don't.

The Reports on Sarah and Saleem had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), where it won the Special Jury Award for Best Screenplay in the festival's Official Competition (Hivos Tiger), and the Audience Award (Hubert Bals). The film also screened at the European Film Market (EFM), held within the Berlin International Film Festival.

The Reports on Sarah and Saleem stars Maisa Abd Elhadi, Adeeb Safadi and Kamel El Basha. The film is a joint production between PalCine Productions in Palestine, in cooperation with KeyFilm in the Netherlands, Manderley Films GmbH in Germany, and Monofilms in Mexico. MAD Solutions handles the distribution of the film in the Arab world.

About Les Petits Chats:

Les Petits Chats landed its world premiere at the 18th Arabian Sights Film Festival for Contemporary Arab Cinema in Washington, DC in 2015, where it captivated audiences and the "full-house" signs were raised during its two screenings. The film also received a nomination for the Arabian Sights Jury Prize. The film took part in several international film festivals, including the Cascade Festival of African Films in Portland, USA, Silk Road Film Festival in Dublin, Ireland, and the Arab Cinema Week in New York. Les Petits Chats is distributed by MAD Solutions in the Arab world.

Directed and produced by Sherif Nakhla, the film is named after the legendary band Les Petits Chats of the cherished era of the 60s and 70s. The six members, who are now major celebrities and musicians, are reunited to perform one last time in a night to remember in spring 2010. Les Petits Chats film is an insight into the lives of the former band-mates during their glory days that answers the questions evoked within each one of them by tracking their present lives and life choices since their breakup in the 80s.
The film showcases interviews with major celebrities and cinema stars at that time and nowadays including: Ezzat Abu Oaf, Omar Khairat, Sobhy Bedeir, Samir Sabri and Mohamed Salmawy.

About The Journey:

Set in Baghdad in 2006. As Sara stands on the cusp of committing an unthinkable act, an unforeseen and awkward encounter gives her the opportunity to witness the potential consequences of her destructive action. But is this a second chance or an admission of guilt?

Directed by Mohamed Al Daradji, who co-wrote the film with Isabelle Stead, The Journey stars Zahraa Ghandour and Ameer Jbara. The film is produced by Human Film, Iraqi Independent Film Center (IIFC), in cooperation with Lionceau Films, Iraq Al-Rafidain and Iraqi Media Network. The Journey received grants from the Doha Film Institute, AFAC - The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, World Cinema Fund (WCF), the Centre National du Cinéma et de l'image Animée (CNC) of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, Institut Français, Netherlands Film Fund, SANAD Development Fund (Abu Dhabi Film Festival) and Screen Yorkshire. The film is distributed in the Arab world by MAD Solutions.
