MAD Solutions Screens a Lineup of Hand-picked Films at Cinema Al Midan in Haifa, Palestine


Part of an extended initiative during Ramadan, MAD Solutions will screen a line-up of homegrown films at Al Midan Theater, Haifa Palestine. Held under the title Cinema Al Midan, the film screenings will take place on Wednesdays at 09:00 pm.

The initiative aims to help Arab cinema aficionados have access to the best of Arab films that have screened in international film festivals. The screenings opened on Wednesday, June 8th, with Mohamed Khan's Before the Summer Crowds, which will be followed by a roster of films, including; Love, Theft and Other Entanglements, and Challat of Tunis.

Set in a seaside resort, Before the Summer Crowds tracks a group of people who meet each other by the beginning of summer season. The film is co-written by Ghada Shahbandar and Nura El Sheikh, who also participated in the screenwriting, and stars Maged El Kedwany, Hana Shiha, Ahmed Dawood, Lana
Mushtaq and Hany El Metennawy.

Directed by Muayad Alayan, Love, Theft and Other Entanglements tells the story of Mousa who gets into the trouble of his life when he steals the wrong car. What he thought was an Israeli car and an easy way to make money in his impoverished Palestinian refugee camp turns out to be a load of misfortune when he discovers a kidnapped Israeli soldier in the trunk.

Directed by Kaouthar Ben Hania, Challatt of Tunis is a documentary where she investigates the mystery behind a man who slashes women with a razor in the streets of Tunisia in 2003. The film reaped six awards from international film festivals.
