Iranian Film Invasion Takes Part in the Carthage Film Festival (JCC)


Iranian film Invasion (Hojoom) by director Shahram Mokri will take part in the 29thCarthageFilm Festival (JCC) (November 3-10), within its Asian Cinema section.

Created in 1961, the Carthage Film Festival is the oldest event of its kind on the African continent and the Arab World. This year, the festival will screen more than 200 films, produced in 2017 and 2018, from 47 countries in its different sections, including 54 Arab films.

Invasion had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival. The film screened at several international film festivals, including the Transilvania International Film Festival in Romania and the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF)in Iran.

A mysterious murder takes place and the police are carrying out investigations to solve the mystery. Assuming that they have already arrested the murderer, all is left to do is to figure out the procedure of the crime. As the police officers attempt to recreate the crime scene, more crimes are arranged during the remakes.

Directed by Shahram Mokri, who co-wrote the film with Nasim Ahmadpoor, Invasion stars Babak Karimi, Abed Abest, Elaheh Bakhshi and Behzad Dorani. The film is distributed in the Arab world by MAD Solutions.

Iranian director Shahram Mokri is a graduate of Cinema from Tehran's Soureh College. He started making short films since 2000. He's known for his second feature film, Fish and Cat (2013), which became an Iranian film phenomenon in 2013 and 2014. The film won the Jury Special Award for Creativity at the Venice International Film Festival in 2013 and screened at more than 80 prestigious films festivals collecting 15 awards. Besides, Fish and Cat was a box-office hit in Iran. Invasion is Shahram Mokri's third feature film.
