Four Short Films Distributed by MAD Solutions Take Part in the Tales of the Silk Road Program in London

Four short films distributed by MAD Solutions take part in the Tales of the Silk Road Program, presented by Shorts on Tap, and they are: Give Up the Ghost by Zain Duraie, Rupture by Yassmina Karajah, Five Boys and A Wheel by Said Zagha, and Ayny by Ahmed Saleh.

The screening will be held at Rich Mix cinema in London on Wednesday, 11 March, at 7:00 PM (London Time).
Tales of the Silk Road is a new cross-art series of events presented by the Bagri Foundation and Shorts on Tap (London) in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Presented across multiple venues in London, Tokyo and Berlin, the screenings include several short and documentary films from the Middle East.

About Give Up the Ghost:
Give up the Ghost tells the story of Salam whose dreams of becoming a mother shatters when she finds out that she is unable to have children with her husband. Written and directed by Zain Duraie and produced by Tabi360 (Alaa Alasad), the film brings together Maria Zurek and Zaid Bakri in the leading roles and is shot by DOP Benoit Chamaillard. MAD Solutions handles the film's distribution in the Arab world.
Additionally, it had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and Arab premiere at El Gouna Film Festival, where it won the Best Arab Short Film.

About Ayny:

Based on true events, Ayny follows two young boys who run away from their mother's protection and slack line on the danger of war to play music with the instrument they always dreamt to own. The film is written, directed, edited and voiced by Ahmad Saleh, music by Nizar Rohana and its Arab world distribution is handled by MAD Solutions.

Ayny made its world premiere in the Muhr Short competition of the 13th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). The film won the Best of the Best award at the Zayed University Middle East Film Festival (ZUMEFF) in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and the Student Academy Award for Best Foreign Animation.

About Rupture:

Rupture follows the journey of four Arab teens on their quest to find the local public pool in their new Canadian city. The film stars Asaad Al Arid, Salam Almarzouq, Hussein Al Ahmad and Wazira Al Ahmad. Rupture is written and directed by Yassmina Karajah, and distributed by MAD Solutions in the Arab world.

Rupture made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and won Best Short Film at three international awards, including Palestine Cinema Days, Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) in Canada, and Slamdance Film Festival in the USA.

About Five Boys and A Wheel:

Based on American author Raymond Carver's short story 'Bicycles, Muscles, Cigarettes', the film is set in Jordan where a young father has to help his son out of a petty conflict with the neighbors. As the parents of each respective family are summoned to discuss the issue at hand, the discussions begin to quickly spin out of control, putting the values of the father to test.
The film stars Ali Suliman, Nadira Omran, and Haydar Kfoof, and is directed by Said Zagha. MAD Solutions distributes the film in the Arab world.

Five Boys and A Wheel won the Golden Wahr Award at the Oran International Arabic Film Festival and the Silver Palm Award at the Mexico International Film Festival. It also landed its world premiere at the Dubai International Film Festival.
