Director Mohammed Hammad's Withered Green Competes in the Long Muhr Competition at DIFF
The Dubai International Film Festival has revealed that Director Mohammed Hammad's film Withered Green will be competing in the Long Muhr Competition at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). This will be the film's premiere screening in the Arab world after touring four festivals in Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, and Singapore.

Currently, Hammad is attending the 27th Stockholm International Film Festival (9 - 20 November) as the first Egyptian to take part in the festival's jury for the Impact competition; one of the festival's official competitions. His debut feature film Withered Green is also taking part in the festival within the Discovery section where it will compete for the Audience Award.

The film will take part in the 27th Singapore International Film Festival (23 November - 4 December) in the Cinema Today Section as the only Arab film to participate in the festival, this year.

Withered Green was the first Egyptian project to compete within the Concorso Cineasti del Presente section at the 69th Locarno International Film Festival. After an impressive full-house three screenings, the film has pulled in a fourth exceptional screening on the audience's' demand. Withered Green participated in the Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur (FIFF) in Belgium within the Compétition 1e Oeuvre De Fiction (Competition of Debut Feature Film) and marked the first Egyptian film to participate at the festival since 1999.

Withered Green tells the story of young Iman, a conservative religious person, who takes people's opinions of her into account and shows uptight restriction to all the withering social traditions. However, a shocking discovery prompts her to do away with all these withered traditions that she once clung to.

Written and directed by Mohammed Hammad, Withered Green is produced by Hammad, Kholoud Saad and Mohammed El Sharqawy in collaboration with producer Mohamed Hefzy (Film Clinic). MAD Solutions alongside Film Clinic-Indie Film Distribution (FCIFD) are handling the film distribution worldwide.

Mohammed Hammad is an Egyptian director with a number of short films in his repertoire. He wrote, produced, and directed the short film Central (2008). In 2010, he produced and directed the short film Pale Red, which took part in many international festivals, receiving several awards.
