Birthmark Scenario Launches Pitch Your Film Workshop at the 4th Cairo Film Connection (CFC)

Birthmark Scenario will launch the Pitch Your Film workshop within the activities of the 4th Cairo Film Connection (CFC). The workshop's main purpose is to provide the participating screenwriters with the needed skills to market and sell their scripts to producers. Participants are selected according to fixed standards put by the workshop organizers. The workshop also gives them the chance to connect with the experts of the film industry, especially producers. Pitch Your Film workshop has announced that the call for submissions is now open from September 28 until October 25, 2016.

Pitch Your Film is a free workshop where 12 screenwriters will be selected based on viewing their feature film scripts that were submitted to the workshop. The workshop will take place on Friday and Saturday (November 18-19, 2016) within the activities of the 4th Cairo Film Connection (CFC) on the sidelines of the 2016 Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) (November 15-24). The participants will be attending interactive sessions with film industry experts while the selection process is handled by CFC's administration and Birthmark Scenario.

Birthmark Scenario is a script development workshop for treatments of six to eight potential small to medium budget narrative feature length films in Egypt in Arabic. The workshop is held over the period of 6 months with the objective of selling and producing the outcome of the workshop. During weekly meetings, industry professionals such as Writers, Directors, Producers and Distributors will discuss the writers' process and progress plans.

Birthmark Scenario workshop has launched its initial phase earlier this year, 2016, and it is currently in its final stage. The workshop is led by Egyptian Screenwriter Wael Hamdy and Film Producer Dina Harb. Aiming mainly to provide beginning screenwriters with the needed skills to develop their projects into full scripts and to market and sell them to producers, Birthmark Scenario will introduce its Pitch Your Film workshop for beginning screenwriters on the margins of the 4th Cairo Film Connection (CFC).

The first Cairo Film Connection (CFC) took place in 2010, during the 34th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) and proved to be a rewarding experience for its participants. In 2012, the 2nd CFC was held, and then the 3rd CFC took place in 2015 hosting a higher number of successful meetings between filmmakers and industry delegates. It is affirming to see that many of the filmmakers who were invited to attend the three previous editions of the Cairo Film Connection (CFC) went on to complete their films achieving various successes all over the world. The Connection continues to be a platform that empowers Arab filmmakers to take their projects to the next level.
