Bethlehem 2001 to Take Part in Ajyal Film Festival


The short film Bethlehem 2001 by director Ibrahim Handal will screen at Ajyal Film Festival (November 18-23), and will also be available online on the festival’s website throughout the festival days, exclusively streaming to residents in Qatar.

This festival’s edition will hold several physical and online events that include a roster of the world’s top films, Made in Qatar program and the Ajyal Creativity Hub. All physical events will be held under strict precautionary and safety measures against the COVD-19.

Bethlehem 2001 world premiered at Locarno Film Festival and screened at Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival and Palestine Cinema Days.

A young Palestinian wander between his current reflections and his childhood memories of the military invasion and siege of Bethlehem. He tries to understand how his parents could lead him through those difficult times, hoping that would help him cope with the present time.

Written and directed by Ibrahim Handal, the film stars Muhammad Mughrabi, Yousef
AbuShkhaidem, Hind AbuShkhaidem, Tarek Abusalameh and Karam Al-Salaymeh. MAD
