Aswan International Women Film Festival Honors Menna Shalaby at the Opening of Its Third Edition
The administration of the Aswan International Women Film Festival revealed its plans to honor superstar Menna Shalaby as one of the most influential female figures in the film industry. Taking place during the opening ceremony of the festival, the third edition of the Aswan International Women Festival Festival will extend from February 20 till 26.

Commenting on this, Menna says: "I'm deeply honored to receive this. It is truly humbling to be recognized by Aswan International Women Film Festival that has been successfully growing beyond Upper Egypt, where it is held, during its first two editions."

Writer Hassan Abu El-Ela, Festival Director, stated "Menna Shalaby is a representation of the future of Egyptian Cinema. Her exquisite keenness in selecting her roles addressing issues that matter has shined at large in several significant films by a plethora of distinguished directors, including: Radwan Al-Kashif, Youssef Chahine, Mohammed Khan, Marwan Hamed, Hala Khalil, and Kamla Abouzekri. "

In addition to Menna Shalaby, the Aswan International Women Film Festival will honor several women; renowned Credits Designer Nawal, Film Editor Laila Fahmi and the film subtitling experts Aida, Azza and Abla Anis,daughters of the Arabic subtitling pioneer Anis Edeid. The closing ceremony will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism, and is sponsored by the National Council for Women and the Syndicate of Cinema.

Menna Shalaby has won numerous awards from local and international film festivals throughout her acting career. She won awards for her roles in the films Al-saher (The Magician), An El Eshq Wel Hawa (About Love and Passion), Banat West El Balad (Downtown Girls) and Heya Fawda (Chaos). Shalaby was named 'Best Actress' by the audience in numerous polls conducted by Arab and Egyptian newspapers and radio stations. She was selected as a jury member at some of the world's most prestigious film festivals, including the Cairo International Film Festival, Carthage Film Festival (Official Competition), and the Malmö Arab Film Festival in Sweden (Feature-Length and Short Film Competition).

For carefully selecting her roles and depicting controversial characters to daringly address untapped issues, Menna Shalaby has grown into one of the most important actresses in Egypt and the Arab world. Shalaby headlined many box-office blockbusters that received wide critical acclaim and won awards at the world's most prestigious film festivals. She is also known for her outstanding performances in some of the most popular TV series in the Arab world.
