Argentinian Film Rojo to Continue Screening at Zawya Cinema
After a successful first week in Zawya Cinema since December 30, Argentinian film Rojo by director Benjamin Naishtat continues screening for the second week in a row at Zawya Cinema. The film is slated to have three screening times; on Wednesday, January 6 at 6:30 pm, Saturday, January 9 at 6:30 pm, and Tuesday, January 12 at 6:30 pm.

The film has previously had an extensive tour across international festivals, where it won a number of awards, including seven awards at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Argentina; Best Actor, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Film, Best Sound and Best Screenplay (Original). It has also previously landed its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival and participated in a number of international festivals, including Marrakech International Film Festival, San Sebastián International Film Festival, where it won Best Director, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Göteborg Film Festival, Miami Film Festival in USA, Rotterdam International Film Festival, Haifa International Film Festival, Filmfest Hamburg, The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival.

Set in the mid-70s, the film opens with a strange man arriving to a quiet city. Setting in a restaurant, abruptly and out of the blue, he starts shouting insulting Claudio, a renowned lawyer. Everyone around stands with the lawyer and the man is thrown out of the restaurant. Holding a grudge, later that night the man intercepts Claudio and his wife Susana. The incident that takes Claudio in a danger-filled journey involving death, secrets and silences.

Directed and written by Benjamin Naishtat, the film stars Darío Grandinetti, Alfredo Castro, Andrea Frigerio, and Claudio Martínez Bel. MAD Solutions handles the film’s distribution in the Arab world.
