Mohamed Diab’s Amira lands its Arab world premiere at El Gouna Film Festival, within the Feature Narrative Competition, where it is slated to have two screenings; on Tuesday, October 19th, at Festival plaza at 6:30 PM, and Wednesday October 20th at Sea cinema at 12:30 PM. The film’s screening is held in the presence of most of the film’s cast and creators, who will also take part in a Q&A session, following the screening, with the media, critics and audience.

Aside from winning three awards at Venice International Film Festival, Amira received wide international acclaim from critics. The audience applauded its director, cast, and creators at the film's world premiere, where it had a 7-minute standing ovation. All of this makes it the most anticipated Arab film this year.

Receiving countless positive reviews, the film was praised by C.G.S’s jury at Venice International Film Festival that described the film as "a very intense well-made film, starting with solid script, an effective editing with gripping momentum, and not to mention the superb acting from the opening scene until the end scene." The renowned film critic Nina E. Roth said "Amira should be high on everyone’s must-watch list" in MIME- Moving Image Middle East.

Moreover, the film was described to be offering "a profound and seismic reflection on the meaning of life" by film critic Firouz Pillet in J:MAG, and as "a tightly written twisty drama in the vein of some of Asghar Farhadi’s better works", by Marc van de Klashors in the International Cinephile Society, as well as "a Shakespearean drama in Palestine" by Italy24 News that also praised Tara Abboud’s performance, saying "Venezia78 was enchanted by the charm of Tara Abboud in Amira". Filmuforia expressed the same opinion.

"You simply must see it.", The film’s director Mohamed Diab told ScoopEmpire that this is what international actor Ethan Hawke said when he watched the film. Diab is currently working with Hawke on a new TV series for Marvel.. "This is America…we should remake the film here." Hawke, added. Furthermore, Egyptian director Amr Salama posted via his official Facebook page that Amira is one of the best Arab films he has ever watched. Amira, a 17 year old Palestinian, was conceived with the smuggled sperm of her imprisoned father, Nawar. Although their relationship since birth has been restricted to prison visits, he remains her hero. His absence in her life is overcompensated with love and affection from those surrounding her. But when a failed attempt to conceive another child reveals Nawar’s infertility, Amira’s world turns upside down.

Amira features a stellar Pan-Arab cast, including Saba Mubarak, Ali Suliman, and Tara Abboud, who lands her first cinematic leading role as Amira, as well as Kais Nashif and Waleed Zuaiter. The film is written by the trio Mohamed, Khaled, and Sherine Diab and edited by Ahmed Hafez who previously worked with Mohamed Diab on Clash.

The film is produced by Film Clinic (Mohamed Hefzy), Agora Audiovisuals (Mona Abdelwahab), Acamedia (Moez Masoud), in Co- production with Taher Media Production (Youssef El Taher) and The Imaginarium Films (Rula Nasser). Also, Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad, Amira Diab and Sarah Goher are the film’s producers. Alongside executive producer Hisham El Araby and associate producer Daniel Ziskind. The international sales is handled by Pyramide Films while MAD Solutions and Lagoonie Film Production handle the film’s marketing and distribution across the Arab world.
