Ahmad Al Fishawy On the Hunt for Chinese Co-producers for His New Sequel The Eighth Sense

Under the umbrella of the Arab Cinema Center's (ACC) edition at Hong Kong International Film & TV Market "FILMART", Ahmad Al Fishawy will organize a special screening for his film The Seventh Sense on March 14th, 2016. Held through Al Fishawy's production houses; Crystal Dog and The Friends, the screening will be attended by the FILMART's international guests and Chinese film professionals. The screening is held at the aim of hunting for Chinese co-production opportunities for Al Fishawy's new film project The Eighth Sense, a sequel to The Seventh Sense that will be filmed mainly in China and will feature Chinese actors and martial arts experts.

On his willingness to make the sequel, Al Fishawy commented, "The Seventh Sense is one of the highest rated comedy films of the 2000s. The film gained a lot of revenues at the box office upon its release 11 years ago, and still receives high ratings whenever it is screened on television. I've been thinking about making a sequel for many years, but what made me make the final decision was my meeting with Perry Fung, the Regional Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council at a reception event in Cairo. He expressed his willingness for a film co-production project between Egypt and China. Therefore, I discovered that there would be no better partner than China to participate in a film about Kung Fu and Chinese culture in general. Furthermore, most of the film will be shot in China and we will need Chinese actors, Kung Fun players and instructors to join the crew. We're very excited to make this movie and we predict that it will be a huge success in both Egypt and China."

The Eighth Sense film, which is currently in the development process, revolves around Yehia Al Masry who receives a letter stating that Foman Shi will seek revenge for his previous defeat. Now that Yehia has lost his seventh sense and his Kung Fu skills, he discovers an eighth sense that will help him beat the famous martial arts champion in his homeland China.

Al Fishawy is currently representing his production companies Crystal Dog and The Friends at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market "FILMART" as partners with the Arab Cinema Center (ACC). Organized by MAD Solutions, the Center is an international promotional platform for Arab cinema as it provides Arab filmmakers with a professional window to connect with filmmakers from all over the world through a number of events that it organizes and provides networking opportunities with representatives of companies and institutions specialized in co-production and international distribution, among others.
