3000 Nights and The Animation Film The Tower To Screen at The Tunisian Film Library


The Animation film The Tower by Mats Grorud and the feature length narrative film 3000 Nights will screen at The Tunisian Film Library (City of Culture) on Friday, January 24. Additionally, 3000 Nights film is slated to have another screening at la salle Omar Khelifi in City of Culture on Thursday, January 23. The two films are distributed by MAD Solutions.

About 3000 Nights:
The film was Palestine's official submission to the Golden Globe Awards, while it was also Jordan's official submission to the 2017 Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The film won 23 international films including: Best Feature Film at Malmo Arab Film Festival in Sweden, Audience Award at Arab Camera Festival Rotterdam and Mizna's Twin Cities Arab Film Festival in Minnesota, USA. and Prix du Film Engagé at Festival du Film de Muret (France).

3000 Nights was theatrically released in many Arab countries, including Tunisia, the UAE and Palestine. It world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and screened at more than 50 international film festivals, including the Dubai International Film Festival (UAE), Busan International Film Festival (South Korea), BFI London Film Festival (UK), Stockholm International Film Festival (Sweden), Palm Springs International Film Festival (US), Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (Estonia), and the Goa Film Festival (India).

3000 Nights is a co-production between Jordan, Palestine, France, UAE, and Lebanon and distributed by MAD Solutions in the Arab world. 3000 Nights tells the story of a young Palestinian school teacher who gives birth to her son in an Israeli prison, where she fights to protect him, survive and maintain hope. The film stars Maisa Abdelhadi, Nadera Omran, Raida Adon, Rakeen Saad, Abeer Haddad, Anahid Fayad, Haifa Al Agha, Khitam Edelbi and Hana Chamoun.

About The Tower:

The Tower received seven awards from many international film festivals including; the Liv Ullmann Peace Prize and the Professional Jury: 2nd Prize for Best Animated Film at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival; the Jury Special Award and the Best Soundtrack Award at the Lisbonne Monstra Lisboa Animation Festival; the Jury Award at the Festival International du Film d'Histoire de Pessac.

The Tower screened in many camps in Palestine and Lebanon, and launched commercially in the Jordan theatres. The film also got a series of commercial screenings in the Tunisian theatres. It took part in different film festivals, including the Cairo International Film Festival, Marrakech International Film Festival, London Palestine Film Festival, Palestine Cinema Days, Arab Film Festival in Famac, France, Busan International Film Festival, Helsinki International Film Festival, and in Cairo Cinema Days.

Written and directed by Mats Grorud, the animated film, The Tower, features the voices of Laila Najjar, Makram J. Khoury, Mohamed Bakri, Mouna Hawwa, Morad Hassan, Hanan Hilow, Saleh Bakri, and Shaden Kanboura. The crew also includes Ahlam Canaan; the Director of Arabic Dubbing, Sound Engineer and Adaptation, and the Casting. The film is a French- Swedish-Norwegian co-production that is distributed in the Arab world by MAD Solutions.

The film follows Wardi, an eleven-year-old girl, who lives in the Palestinian refugee camp. She learns about her family's history through stories told to her by three earlier generations of refugees.
