Until the Birds Return Takes Part in the Franco Arab Film Festival in Jordan


Director Karim Moussaoui's film Until the Birds Return is taking part of the 24th edition of the Franco Arab Film Festival (24 June - 1 July) on Thursday, June 28 at 09:00 pm at the Royal Film Commission - Jordan (RFC) in Amman.

The Franco Arab Film Festival is organized by the Institut Français in Jordan in collaboration with the Royal Film Commission - Jordan (RFC)

Set in modern-day Algeria, where past and present collide in the lives of a newly wealthy property developer, an ambitious neurologist impeded by wartime wrongdoings, and a young woman torn between the path of reason and sentiment. Three stories plunge us into the human soul of a contemporary Arab society.

Until the Birds Return is written and directed by Karim Moussaoui, and co-written by Maud Adeline. The film stars Nadia Kaci, Hania Amar, Aure Atika, Mohamed Djourhi, Sonia Mekkiou and Mehdi Ramdhani. MAD Solutions is handling the film's distribution through the Arab world.

The film won a number of awards at prestigious film festivals such as the Gold FIFOG Prize at the International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva, Best Art Direction at the Gijón International Film Festival in Spain, Best First Film Award to Karim Moussaoui at the Lumiere Awards in France, Wihr d'Or and Best Director awards at the Oran International Arabic Film Festival and was selected at the Un Certain Regard of the Cannes Film Festival. Until the Birds Return took part in a number of film festivals such as the Carthage Film Festival (JCC), International Film Festival Rotterdam - IFFR, Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), Tarifa-Tangier African Film Festival (FCAT), and Warsaw Film Festival (WFF) in Poland.

Born in Jijel, Algeria, Karim Moussaoui is a director, writer and actor. He started his career as an assistant director to eminent directors such as Tariq Teguia and Nadir Moknache. In 2013, Moussaoui made his first short film The Days Before. His film, Until the Birds Return (2017), was selected in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. His directing credits include the films Ce qu'on Doit Faire and Petit Déjeuner.
