Three Films Distributed by MAD Solutions at the Ajyal Youth Film Festival


Three films distributed by MAD Solutions are going to be screened at the 5th Ajyal Youth Film Festival (November 29 - December 4) in Qatar, where the short films Ayny by Ahmad Saleh and Mare Nostrum by directors Rana Kazkaz and Anas Khalaf are going to be screened as part of the Ajyal Competition and Theeb by Naji Abu Nowar,which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, will have a Special Screening.

Organized by the Doha Film Institute, the Ajyal Youth Film Festival's schedule consists of the Ajyal Competition, in addition to the Special Screenings, as well as public screenings of short and feature-length films made in Qatar. At this year's edition, the festival will screen a schedule of world-renowned new films, a special red-carpet screening, inspirational Ajyal Talks and exciting events like Geekdom and Family Weekend.

About Theeb
Theeb is Jordanian director/writer Naji Abu Nowar's first feature film, which he co-scripted with Bassel Ghandour. Set in the Arabian Desert of 1916, the film follows Theeb, a young Bedouin boy, and his brother Hussein as they leave the safety of their tribe to venture on a treacherous journey at the dawn of the Great Revolt. If Theeb is to survive he must quickly learn about adulthood, trust and betrayal.

About Ayny:
Based on true events, Ayny follows two young boys who run away from their mother's protection and slack line on the danger of war to play music with the instrument they always dreamt to own. The film is written, directed, edited and voiced by Ahmad Saleh, music by Nizar Rohana, animated by Frank Pingel, DOP Lionel Poutiaire Somé and produced by Stefan Gieren.

About Mare Nostrum:
The film's events take place in 13 minutes on the shore of the Mediterranean, where a Syrian father and his little daughter flee the civil war in Syria, but the father makes a decision that could endanger his daughter's life. Directed by Rana Kazkaz and Anas Khalaf, and written by Kazkaz, Mare Nostrum stars Ziad Bakri and Zayn Khalaf. The film is a French Syrian Jordanian production.
