The Guest: Aleppo-Istanbul Releases in Jordanian Cinemas Starting September 13
MAD Solutions has released a new official poster of The Guest: Aleppo-Istanbul. This comes a few days ahead of the film's release in Jordanian cinemas starting September 13 at Prime Cinemas Baraka Mall, Prime Cinemas Irbid, Grand Cinemas - City Mall, and Prime Cinemas Abdalli, in collaboration with Arab Media Network.
Concurrently, The Guest: Aleppo-Istanbul will close the events of the eighth edition of the Arab Film Festival-Amman (4 - 11 September) that will be held at the Royal Film Commission Jordan - RFC, with the attendance of the film's star and producer Saba Mubarak.
The eighth edition of the Arab Film Festival-Amman is held under the patronage of the Minister of Culture H.E Basma Al Nsour. The first edition of the festival was launched in 2011 with the aim to convey the most successful cinematic experiences to Jordanian audience.
Most recently, the film took part in the Arab Film Festival in South Korea and the Manarat Mediterranean Film Festival in Tunisia. The Guest: Aleppo-Istanbul won the Audience Award at the Antalya Film Festival in Turkey and the Best Feature award and Best Actress award to Jordanian star Saba Mubarak at theSilk Road International Film Festival (SRIFF) ) in Ireland. The film won the Best Feature Film award and Best Editing award to Editor Ahmed Hafez, within the National Feature Films Competition of the International Bosphorus Film Festival. The film was screened within the European Film Market (EFM), held as part of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), in addition to taking part in the Arab Women Film Festival in Sweden and LET'S CEE Film Festival in Vienna.
The Guest: Aleppo-Istanbul follows the journey of Lena and Meryem during their escape from the war in Syria. Lena is a ten-year-old girl who has lost her family in the war. She finds herself forced to make her way to Turkey with her baby sister and their neighbor Meryem, along with the other refugees. Lena wants to return home, while Meryem's hope is reach Europe.
Written and directed by Turkish director AndaƧHaznederoğlu, The Guest: Aleppo-Istanbul stars Saba Mubarak and child RawanSkeif, alongside a number of real Syrian refugees who are acting for the first time. The film is a co-production between the Turkish companies; AndaƧ Film Productions, Istanbul Digital (ID) and Istanbul Film Production (IFP); and the Jordanian company Pan East Media. The film project has received financial support from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. MAD Solutions is handling the film's distribution in the Arab world.
