The Good Girls Continues Screening for the Fourth Consecutive Week at Zawya Cinema
Mexican film The Good Girls by director Alejandra MÃ¡rquez Abella will continue screening for the fourth week in a row at Zawya cinema, starting from February 3 to February 9. This comes after the filmÂ’s massive turnout during its screening in the cinema, following its participation at international festivals where it won several awards.
The film has garnered a number of prestigious awards, including Grand Prix for Best Film at the Fribourg Film Festival, Audience Award at the Macao International Film Festival and Best Latin American Film, Best Screenplay and Best Editing at the Malaga Film Festival. Additionally, it took part in a number of international film festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival, Roma International Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, Morelia International Film Festival, Marrakech International Film Festival, Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, Stockholm International Film Festival, and Hong-Kong Film Festival.
The always charming, perfect and spoiled Sofia, the queen bee of her group of friends, faces the unimaginable, her social decay. ItÂ’s 1982 and a big economic crisis is hitting Mexico. Sofia will have to maintain the appearances but her fall not only will be inevitable, it will also acknowledge what is lost when the money is gone. Directed by Alejandra Marquez Abella, who co-wrote it with Monika Revilla, The Good Girls stars Ilse Salas, Cassandra Cinagherotti and Paulina GaitÃ¡n. Alejandra Marquez Abella was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and raised in Mexico City. She studied filmmaking at Centre dÂ’Estudis Cinematographics de Catalunya in Barcelona. Her short 5 Memories was exhibited in over 140 festivals around the world. Semana santa (2015), her first feature, premiered at Toronto International Film Festival and visited festivals such as South by Southwest and Karlovy Vary. The Good Girls (Las Ninas Bien) is her second feature.
