Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Stiftung for International Cooperation

Project Market North Africa, for Filmmakers from Egypt, North Africa and Sudan

Each year, the Robert Bosch Stiftung issues three Film Prizes for international cooperation between young German and Arab filmmakers to realize a joint film project. The prizes, each worth up to 70,000 Euros, are awarded in the following categories: short animation, documentary, and short fiction film.

Eligible are teams of young filmmakers coming from an Arab country (one of the 22 member states of the Arab League) and Germany and who are in the beginning of their career. The film should be produced in both partner countries, stressing in particular the aspect of intercultural exchange. The Project Market is held to facilitate the team finding process.

Project Market North Africa.

This year, the Project Market North Africa takes place in North Germany - Bremerhaven from July 21 to 26, 2015 including arrival and departure.

Up to ten young directors from Egypt, North Africa and Sudan are invited to meet with up to ten German producers. The Robert Bosch Stiftung will cover all costs for travel, accommodation and catering.

Over a period of four days, a diverse program will offer the filmmakers from the Arab World and Germany various occasions to get to know each other, to introduce each other's work, to talk in detail about the directors' project and to exchange knowledge and experiences. Joint events and excursions will help to intensify the newly acquainted contacts.

The meetings between directors and producers do not necessarily have to result in a partnership but can help to gain experience of an international co-production market and extend the network. In the event that a team is formed, the first step towards preparing for a joint application for the following round of the Film Prize of the Robert Bosch Stiftung is created.

Who can participate in the Project Market?

Young directors in the beginning of their career and students or graduated students from film and media academies being Arab nationals from Egypt, North Africa and Sudan can apply for the Project Market, if they have a project in development in the above-mentioned categories.
