New Century Begins Filming Alnabatshy to Be Released At Eid Al-Fitr

New Century Production has announced that director Ismail Farouk began shooting his new film Alnabatshy on Monday, 14 April 2014. To be released by Dollar Film, which owns the copyrights to distribute the film in Egypt and across the Arab region, Alnabatshy will screen in Egyptian theatres during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday next July.

Alnabatshy is the second collaboration between director Ismail Farouk and scriptwriter Muhammad Samir Mabrouk following El Ashash, which garnered wide commercial success last year. Alnabatshy stars Mahmoud Abdel Moghny, Mai Kassab, Hala Sedky, and Edward.

The film’s story line remains under wraps. Alnabatshy is the first film to focus on the intriguing persona of al-nabatshy, the charismatic master of ceremonies who oversees Egyptian working-class weddings held in the street. Relying on a sense of humor, a strong personality, and mastery of street-wise performative culture, this MC presents singers and various entertainment acts on stage and serves as a link between all in attendance. He boisterously greets guests all night long and encourages them to compete in their conspicuous generosity, thereby collecting as many gifts of cash notes as possible.
