Mohamed Hefzy Selected as Jury Member of the Horizons (Orizzonti) Sectionat the Venice International Film Festival


The organizers of the 75th Venice International Film Festival (August 29 - September 8) announced the selection of Producer/Screenwriter Mohamed Hefzy as a jury member of the Horizons (Orizzonti) section a few months before the launch of the 40th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), where he serves as President.

The Orizzonti section offers the awards for the Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Short Film, along with a Special Jury Prize.

Mohamed Hefzy has participated in many international film festivals throughout his career and took part as a guest in many panel discussions at international festivals, including the Berlin International Film Festival (2017) and the Dubai International Film Festival (2016). He served as a jury member at the Cairo International Film Festival (2010) and Abu Dhabi International Film Festival (2012). Hefzy was appointed as festival director of the 16th and 17th editions of the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts. Hefzy represented the Egyptian film industry at the Success Stories of Arab Producers Forum that took place on the sidelines of the Manarat Mediterranean Film Festival in Tunisia.

Mohamed Hefzy is currently the President of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) in its 40th edition, becoming the youngest to ever be appointed for this post. The 40th CIFF will be held from November 20-29, 2018.
