MAD Solutions to feature 4 films at Poland’s Eurasia International Film Festival

Four features from MAD Solutions' distribution slate will be showcased at the first edition of Poland’s Eurasia International Film Festival, which will be running from April 13th to the 23rd — DAUGHTERS OF ABDULRAHMAN; DIRTY, DIFFICULT, DANGEROUS; NEZOUH and THE EXAM.

Coming in first in the MAD lineup is Zaid Abu Hamdan’s DAUGHTERS OF ABDULRAHMAN, which is scheduled to feature in the festival’s Panorama Section.

Set in a lower-middle-class neighborhood in Amman. The film follows the single and middle-aged Zainab, who lives a dreary existence as a local seamstress and her father’s keeper.

When Zainab wakes up one morning to a shocking discovery with the potential to defame her throughout her neighborhood, she and her three sisters are forced to come together in spite of their vastly disparate lives.

Written and directed by Zaid Abu Hamdan, DAUGHTERS OF ABDULRAHMAN stars Saba Mubarak, Farah Bsieso, Hanan Hillo, Mariam Basha, and Khalid Tariffi

The film is expected to have two screenings — the first at 8 pm on April, 15th at Kino Atlantic with the director in attendance, and the second at 1 pm on April 16th at Kino Luna.

Next up is Wissam Charaf’s award-winning-film DIRTY, DIFFICULT, DANGEROUS, which follows Ahmed — a Syrian refugee roaming the streets of Beirut searching for metal objects to be recycled — who thought he’d find love with Mehdia, an Ethiopian expat. However, in this city, such a story seems almost impossible.

Will the couple be able to reclaim their freedom despite Ahmed’s body slowly turning to metal due to a mysterious illness?

Directed by Wissam Charaf — who co-wrote it with Hala Dabaji and Mariette Désert — the film stars Clara Couturet, Ziad Jallad, Rifaat Tarabay, and Darina Al-Joundi.

Dirty, Difficult, Dangerous will have two screenings — one at 11 am on April 16th at Kino Luna, and the second at 7 pm on April 22nd at Kino Atlantic.

Third in the lineup is Soudade Kaadan's NEZOUH, which takes place against the backdrop of the Syrian civil war, where a missile destroys the ceiling of the house of 14-year-old Zeina. As a result, she sleeps for the first time under the stars and makes friends with Amer (Nizar Alani) — the boy next door.

When the violence escalates, Hala (Kinda Alloush) — Zeina's mother — decides to leave, getting into an argument with her husband, Motaz (Samer Al-Masri), who refuses to become a refugee and tries everything to stop his family from leaving their house.

The film stars Kinda Alloush, Samer Al-Masri, Hala Zein, Nizar Alani, and Darina Al-Joundi, and is lensed by prominent cinematographer Hélène Louvart.

The film will also be screened twice — once on April 16th at Kino Luna at 4 pm and the second on April 20th at Kino Atlantic at 6 pm.

Last but not least is Shawkat Amin Korki’s critically acclaimed drama THE EXAM, which follows Rojin, a young Kurdish-Iraqi woman who is set to take the university's admission exam, while Rojin's unhappily married elder sister Shilan decides to assist her to pass at any cost in order to provide her a more emancipated life. Thus, the sisters inevitably become entangled in a huge network of corruption that connects all parts of society.

The seven-time-award-winning film stars Avan Jamal, Vania Salar, Hussein Hassan, and Hoshyar Nerwayi.

THE EXAM will have two screenings: one on April 19th at Kino Luna at 8 pm and one on April 20th at Kino Atlantic at 8 pm.
