Lebanese Premiere of Lilacs at the Lebanese Film Festival


With the attendance of the film's director Mira Shaib, the short film Lilacs is landing its premiere in its homeland, Lebanon at the 13th edition of the Lebanese Film Festival (17 - 21 September) that will be held at Cinema City in Beirut Souks. The screening of the film will be held on Thursday, September 20 at 10:0 pm. This comes after its participation at the Lebanese Film Festival in Sydney, Australia.

The current edition of the Lebanese Film Festival screens over 70 films at the festival alongside a special screening by director Heiny Srour. The festival is held in collaboration with Films Femmes FrancophonesI Méditerranée (FFFMed),

Lilacs follows the story of Hanna, a melancholic woman who comes to Lebanon after 12 years absence. She wants to find her twin brother Firas who has been kidnapped during the Lebanese Civil War. The film stars Wafaa Halawi, Faek Hmaisy, and Aliya Khalidi.

The film landed its Egyptian premiere at the 2nd Aswan International Women Film Festival (AIWFF)
within the festival's Official Short Films Competition.

Lilacs is produced by Filma kademie Baden-Württemberg (Germany) and 4th Wall Productions (Jordan) of producer Aya Naboulsi, and supported by Robert Bosch Stiftung (Germany). MAD Solutions is handling the film's distribution through the Arab world.

Lebanese director Mira Shaib is graduated from the American University in Beirut with a BA in Communication Arts- TV/Film. Directly after graduating in 2015, Mira received a full scholarship and grant from Robert Bosch Stiftung to attend six months at Filmakadmie Baden-Wurttemberg. Mira is currently working at beirut.com as Video Producer, also freelancing as an Assistant Director and a Videographer.
