Hend Sabry Attends the IWC Filmmaker Award Gala Dinner and World Premiere of The Parrot

During her stay in Dubai for the participation in Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) (7-14 December), Tunisian superstar Hend Sabry will attend the gala dinner held by the luxury Swiss watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen under the theme "For the Love of Cinema" on Thursday night, December 8th. Sabry will join the event in her capacity as the company's brand ambassador in the Arab world.

During the evening, the winner of the IWC Filmmaker Award, which is presented by the company at Dubai International Film Festival to a director from the GCC, will be announced.

On Saturday, December 11th, Sabry will attend the world premiere of the short film The Parrot, which she co-stars in, as it will be competing in the Muhr Short competition of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) (December 7-14, 2016).

IWC Schaffhausen had selected actress Hend Sabry as its brand ambassador in the Arab world. This is a continuation of the collaboration that began between both parties last year as Hend was selected as a member of the Jury for IWC Filmmaker Award at the 12th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).

The IWC Filmmaker Award was launched in collaboration with the luxury Swiss watch manufacturer to open doors for directors from Gulf countries, and highlight their cinematic achievements by offering a USD 100,000 cash prize to support the production of the winning film project. The winning project must have a director who is a citizen of one of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and the project must be in a feature-length fiction film in an advanced stage of development with a producer attached to it.

Kick starting its tour in international festivals and film events, the short film The Parrot, by directors Amjad Al-Rasheed and Darin Sallam, will land its world premiere at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). Sabry's participation in the film comes as part of her tangible efforts in supporting young filmmakers.

The Parrot marks Sabry's third participation in the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), after Ahla El Awkat (Best of Times) (2004) and Sabah el Fol (Rise and Shine) (2006).

Sabry has recently co-produced the new film Flower of Aleppo through her production house Salam PROD marking her first cinematic production. The film was chosen to open the 27th Carthage Film Festival, and it has also been selected by Tunisia as the country's official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 2017 Academy Awards.

The 23-award-winning star was part of many juries, and held administrative and honorary positions in international festivals. She was selected as Honorary President of the International Arab Film Festival in Gabès. In 2012, Sabry took part in the 2nd TROPFEST Arabia, the world's largest short film festival, as the Festival Co-director. In the same year, the renowned actress headed the Feature Narrative Jury at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival.
