Hedi's Lead Actor Majd Mastoura Wins the Best Artistic Achievement Award at the Luxor African Film Festival

Tunisian star Majd Mastoura received the Best Artistic Achievement Award at the 6th Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) for his role in writer/director Mohamed Ben Attia's film Hedi, alongside Amr Saad for his role in Mawlana within the Long Narrative Competition. This comes ahead of Hedi's participation at the Festival International du Cinéma Méditerranéen de Tétouan in Morocco.

The film follows Hedi a young man who doesn't expect much from the future. While his mother tries to decide his life for him, making arrangements for marrying him off to Khadija, Hedi meets Rym and only two days before his wedding. Captivated by Rym's free-spirit, Hedi finds himself obsessed with his new-born passion and suddenly discovers that his world goes beyond and above conventions. The film stars Majd Mastoura, Rym Ben Messaoud, and Sabah Bouzouita.

Hedi is written and directed by Mohamed Ben Attia, and co-produced by Dora Bouchoucha, Nadim Cheikhrouha, along with Belgian producers and directors, the brothers Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne (Two Days, One Night), while the distribution of the film is handled by MAD Solutions.

Hedi has been to many international festivals winning several awards, so at the beginning of 2016, its director Mohamed Ben Attia won the Best First Feature Award, and its lead actor Majd Mastoura won the Silver Berlin Bear at the Berlinale, as an unprecedented achievement for an Arab film at the festival. The film also won the Golden Athena Award for Best Picture at the Athens International Film Festival, and the Lumiere Award for Best French-Language Film at the Lumiere Awards, France 2017, in addition to taking part in over 15 international festivals including the BFI London Film Festival and Dubai International Film Festival.
