Holding the Number One Spot for the Third Week

Gravity Surpasses US$280 Million Worldwide

Gravity held on to the top spot in the US box office for the third consecutive week since its release. The space drama topped the weekend box office with US$31 million, beating out numerous newcomers, bringing its total earnings in the United States to US$170 million. Gravity matched its success in the international market earning US$114 million worldwide, bringing its total to US$284 million.

Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone-tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

Gravity is the long-awaited film by three-time Academy Award nominee Alfonso CuarĂ³n, director of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of the Azkaban and Children of Men, who returns to the director's chair after six years. The film was released in IMAX and 3D in Egypt by United Motion Pictures, the biggest film distributor in the Arab world and the sole distributor of Warner Bros. Pictures films in Egypt.
