Factory Girl Records Its First Million in Less than Two Weeks

With unprecedented increase in 19 screens across the Egyptian theatres, Factory Girl's revenues increased by 48% in the first four days of its second week of screening with 290,000 pounds, compared to the first four days of its first week. The film ranked first in several of the cinema complexes where it was screened.

Following MAD Solutions, the company serving as Factory Girl's distributor regionally and globally, the theatres' screenings observation team noticed that most of the audience are under 30 years old. Moreover, the screenings witnessed the attendance of groups of friends going to watch the film together.

In the Gulf region, Factory Girl achieved another success with about 250,000 Egyptian pounds in U.A.E., Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, thus allowing Factory Girl to earn its second million starting tomorrow, Tuesday. The film will be released in Oman on Thursday, April 3rd, 2014, with Jordan and Lebanon set to follow soon.

Factory Girl hit another record on YouTube and Facebook. The viewing rates of the film's trailer on YouTube neared 250,000 through MAD Solutions and DayDream accounts, in addition to the other unofficial websites and personal accounts. Yousra Hawary's song at the end titles earned 60,000 views since its release in Bassem Youssef's Elbernameg on March 21st, 2014.The song was also played for about 90,000 times on SoundCloud website.

Factory Girl's official page on Facebook boasts more than 45,000 visits, as the page posts a multitude of of the fans' pictures and videos who wished to express their admiration of the film. The film's leading actress, Yasmin Raeis' official page earned 170,000 fans with an increase of 110,000 since the film's release.

Factory Girl'saccount on Twitter is considered the first among Egyptian films. The film's followers reached 7,000 fans. The film is also the first Arabic one to have an account on Instagram reaching 300 followers, which is considered a record depending on Instagram's followers.

For the first time for an Egyptian film, Factory Girl offers a service for its fans through Google+ Hangout. Sponsored by FilFan.com, the Hangout will give the chance to the film's fans to discuss Factory Girl with Mohamed Khan, the film's director, along with its two stars, Yasmine Raies and Hany Adel, starting Monday 06:00 p.m.

Directed by great Mohamed Khan, and written by Wessam Suleiman, Factory Girl tells the story of Hiyam, a young factory worker, lives in a lower-middle-class neighborhood, along with her co-workers. She is clearly under the spell of Salah, the factory's new supervisor, who has expressed his admiration for her. She believes love can transcend the class differences between them. However, when a pregnancy test is discovered in the factory premises, her immediate family and close friends accuse her of sinning. Hiyam decides not to defend herself and pays an enormous price in a society that fails to accept independent women. Factory Girl examines the changes that take place in her life over the four seasons of the year. From falling in love to facing heartbreak, her life comes around full circle by the end of the year.
