Dubai International Film Festival Presents Clash for Golden Globe Consideration

The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) has announced the news that they will present Mohamed Diab's Clash- Egypt's official submission to the Best Foreign-language Film category at the Academy Awards 2017- to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HEPA) for Golden Globe Award consideration.

The administration of the DIFF revealed that it will annually present two exceptional Arab films to the HFPA for the Golden Globe Awards. During the inaugural event, hosted on November 14th, a special screening for the members of the HFPA will present DIFF's recommended films, Mohamed Diab's Clash and Assad Fouladkar's Halal Love.

This initiative is to promote the pursuit of the Dubai International Film Festival for the development of innovative and strategic partnerships with relevant partners all over the world to support and promote the success of the Arab cinema at an international level.

Most recently, Clash received three awards at the 61stValladolid Film Festival (Seminci) including; the Best New Director (Mohamed Diab), the Best Director of Photography (Ahmed Gabr), and the Sociograph Award which is voted for by the audience. The film also received the Grand Prix at the Festival du Film Arabe de Fameck/Val de Fensch in France.

Last May, the film landed its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival as it opened the prestigious Un Certain Regard section. Clash marked Egypt's comeback as an official selection after years of absence to the world's most prestigious film event. The Hollywood Reporter also selected Clash as one of the 10 best films on its Critics' Faves at the 69th Cannes Film Festival.

Clash took part in the 60th BFI London Film Festival to compete within its official competition. Tackling the political unrest that prevailed in Egypt in 2013, Clash's events take place in an 8-meter police truck, crammed with detainees representing different sects of society, their interaction with each other full of madness, violence, romance, and comedy.
