Dr. Georgette Savvides Releases Her Book 'My Journey' through Al Kotob Khan


Counseling and Occupational Psychologist Dr. Georgette Savvides revealed details on the release of the Arabic version of her book 'My Journey', an autobiography on her own career path as a successful psychologist, through Al Kotob Khan bookstore. The English version of the book is set to be released on a later date this year. Dr. Georgette Savvides is preparing to shoot a new TV show about psychotherapy that will be aired soon.

Commenting on her new book, Dr. Savvides says, "My Journey is dedicated to every person that is struggling in their lives, this book is meant to bring awareness and help break the stigma that has been fixed in the traditional minds for long, which implies that 'seeking help is a sign of weakness'.On the contrary, it is not a sign of weakness, but rather a sign that you are ready to change what pains you and this is a sure sign of strength."

According to Dr. Savvides, the book sheds light on her life journey into the world of psychotherapy; from the early beginnings to her studying trips to many countries worldwide earning her Doctorate in Psychology, and the establishment of the Psychealth Counseling and Training Services in Cairo in 2009. Through laughter and tears, Dr. Savvides narrates different stories about her clients without disclosing their identities.

Established by Karam Youssef in 2006, Al Kotob Khan is a burgeoning publishing house/bookstore and cultural center engaged in social and cultural activities. Within 10 years, it has become one of the most influential hubs in the cultural scene in Egypt and the Arab world through its parti-colored activities and workshops.

Counseling and Occupational Psychologist, Dr. Georgette Savvides, received her professional Doctorate in Psychology from European and American universities. Being a member of several prestigious scientific associations and institutions, Dr. Savvides is set with a goal to change the way the Egyptian society perceive patients with psychological disorders, and raise awareness of mental illness and methods to deal with it. She worked as a consultant for several international companies, including;Vodafone, Coca Cola, L'Oreal, Henkel, Oracle and CIB.

Dr. Savvides is the Founder and Owner of Psychealth Counseling and Training Services in Cairo. She also writes for several magazines and has appeared in a number of TV programs that aim to raise awareness for mental health issues.
