Documentary Film The Golden Harvest Screens at Food Film Festival

The Golden Harvest by Alia Yunis has been announced an official selection at the 7th Food Film Festival (20-24 August) in Italy. The screening is slated to take place on Friday, August 21, at 05:00 PM (GMG+2).

Food Film Festival is a unique event in Italy that combines best films about food from all over the world and the most famous foods and wines made in Bergamo.

Written and directed by Alia Yunis, The Golden Harvest follows 6,000-year old love story in which the filmmaker tries to understand the profound, often troubled, relationship between olive oil and the people of Mediterranean, including her own father. Her journey of food, love and heartache takes her to unexpected places as diverse characters get involved in unraveling this tale.

The Golden Harvest landed world premiere at the The Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, Greece in 2019. The film received Best of Fest at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF), USA, where it had three full-house screenings and took part at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.

Filmmaker and writer Alia Yunis has worked on projects on five continents involving film, writing and photography. She spent many years in Los Angeles as a screenwriter and script analyst for companies such as Village Roadshow Pictures and Miramax. Alia is a PEN Emerging Voices Fellow, has been a top ten finalist Zoetrope Screenwriting Awards and the recipient of a comedy-writing award from Warner Bros. Her novel, The Night Counter (Random House 2010), was critically-acclaimed by the Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly, and several other publications.
