Director Nidhal Chatta's Film Mustafa Z Scoops Two Awards at the Festival Maghrebin du Film d'Oujda


Director Nidhal Chatta's film Mustafa Z won the Grand Prize and the Best Actor (Abdelmonem Chouayet) award at the 7th edition of the Festival Maghrébin du Film d'Oujda that was held from 23 to 27 June in Morocco.

Organized by the CinéMaghreb Association, the 7th edition of the Festival Maghrébin du Film d'Oujda was held under the title of 'Cinema, a Universal Language'. Dedicating a competition for the feature films and another one for the shorts, the Festival honored a number of iconic Arab filmmakers for their extensive efforts and significant contribution to the Arab cinema.

Mustafa Z follows a simple Tunisian man through a series of unexpected events that change the course of his life in 24 hours, just a few hours before the country's first democratic elections.

Directed by Nidhal Chatta, Mustafa Z stars Abdelmonem Chouayet, Fatma Nasser, Aissa Harrath, Férid Memmich, Narjess Ben Ammar, and Sabri Khiari. The film is produced by SOUTH BY SOUTH WEST FILMS and BLACK & LIGHT and distributed by MAD Solutions in the Arab world.

Nidhal Chatta is a Tunisian director whose repertoire includes a number of documentary, short and feature films including Mustafa Z that marks his fourth feature film. Chatta received more than eight international awards from prestigious film festivals around the world.
