Clash's Trailer Surpasses 6.5 Million Views and Tom Hanks Commends the Project

Following a star-studded premiere night, organized by MAD Solutions the film's distributor last Sunday,
Mohamed Diab's new film Clash has become the talk of the town for the past two days ahead of its commercial run in Egyptian cinemas. Clash's trailer reached more than 6.5 million views on its official Facebook page and on producer Moez Masoud's as well.

Following the film's impressive premiere, Clash won rave reviews of not only the film stars, critics and public figures who attended the event, but also the Oscar winning Hollywood actor Tom Hanks, who sent the film's director Diab a letter of praise for the project saying, "Your film Clash will go great lengths to enlighten many. Audiences will see that humanity is a fragile community, but we are all in 'this' together." Hanks concluded his letter by thanking Diab and his film crew, describing them as "first rate example of what they do".

The guests who attended the film's premiere took to social media to commend the film. Writer Amr Samir Atef said, "I attended Clash's premiere and for me, I think the most important thing is that we have now an international director named Mohamed Diab." Producer and writer Mohamed El Adl commented, "Mohamed Diab stressed Youssef Chahine's ideology; "I care about the human being no matter their title.""

Director and film editor Tamer Ezzat said, "Clash is a well-made film as far as the imagery, storytelling, performance, directing and editing are concerned. It is a film that is biased for humanity amidst political equations, which is a very mature position." Writer Salah El-Geheiny also expressed his opinion stating, "Clash is a very Egyptian film that is very different than any film I have ever seen in my life. Congratulations to the filmmakers and participants. You made us proud." Writer Yasmine Madkour said, "This film documents the state of total collapse that we're still living through. It will really make a difference with people if they get to see it. It will change the way they view what is happening in the country."

Cairokee's lead singer Amir Eid also took to his Facebook page to comment on the film, "Clash is a unique, different and enjoyable artistic film. The entire world can watch it and enjoy it. A film that is professionally made in accordance with the international standards." While Singer Zap Tharwat said, "On so many different levels including the writing, the directing, the cinematography, the acting performances, and the music! Clash can be called the perfect film. A film that can compete internationally."

On his Facebook page, Photographer Ahmed Hayman commented, "Clash is not just a film, it inspires you to think through many things and view things differently. Watching it will move you emotionally in a way that is unfamiliar to you. You'll want to laugh and cry at the same time." On the other hand, Hesham
Afifi compared Clash to the Oscar winning film Birdman in terms of the challenge and the techniques required to present the message intended, "The lighting in the film was phenomenal inside that narrow space, either in the morning or at night. It was done perfectly. The artistic portraits in the shots and using smart solutions for the film were worth the attention that it garnered at the Cannes Film Festival."

Tackling the political unrest that prevailed in Egypt in 2013, Clash's events take place in an 8-meter police truck, crammed with detainees representing different sects of society, their interaction with each other full of madness, violence, romance, and comedy.

Co-written by Khaled Diab and Mohamed Diab, who is also the director, Clash is a co-production between France, Egypt, Germany, and the UAE. The cast includes Nelly Karim, Tarek Abd El Aziz, Hany Adel, Ahmed Malek, Ashraf Hamdi, Mohamed Abdel Azim, Gamil Barsoum and others.

The film landed its world premiere last May at the Cannes Film Festival as it inaugurated the prestigious Un Certain Regard section. Clash marked Egypt's comeback to the festival's official selection after years of absence. The Hollywood Reporter also selected Clash as one of the 10 best films at the 69th Cannes Film Festival.

Clash is a joint production effort between Arab and European companies: Film Clinic (Egypt), Sampek Productions (France), and Acamedia Global (UAE), in association with ARTE France Cinema (France), Niko Film (Germany), Fortress Film Clinic (UAE), and Pyramide International (France). Taking part in the project are producers Moez Masoud, Mohamed Hefzy, Eric Lagesse, and it is co-produced by Nicole Gerhards, alongside executive producers Jamal Al Dabbous and Daniel Ziskind. Mohamed Diab's wife, Sarah Goher also acted as a creative collaborator on the film, earning the title "Creative Producer". The film will be distributed in Egyptian theatres by MAD Solutions, while Pyramide International will distribute it in France and the rest of the world.
