Certified Mail Lands World Premiere at Toronto International Film Festival


Director Hisham Saqr's debut feature Certified Mail will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)(September 5-15) within its Discovery programme that casts light on promising directors and the future of world cinema. The film will screen on Friday, September 6, at 06:45 PM (GMT -4), and will have reruns on Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 15.

Having its official poster recently revealed, Certified Mail follows Hala, who has been living with the fear of abandonment since her father passed away when she was 18. She suffers from clinical depression, which leads her to several suicide attempts.

Written and directed by Hisham Saqr, Certified Mail stars Basma, Passant Shawky, Mohamed Sarhan, Lobna Asal and Rafal Abdelkader. The film is co-produced by Mohamed Hefzy's Film Clinic and Hisham Saqr's White Feather, along with producer Mohamed Samir and associate producers Daniel Ziskind and Jessica Khoury.

Film Clinic was founded in 2005 by renowned Producer and Screenwriter Mohamed Hefzy as a production company that offers screenwriting workshops and specializes in producing feature and documentary films. While targeting all types of audiences in the Egyptian, Arab and international markets, Film Clinic is known for supporting young Arab filmmaking talent, and making innovative films as a creative alternative to the mainstream commercial films in the Arab film industry.

Film Clinic co-produced Egyptian, Arab and international feature films that went on to win more than 150 awards at over 350 international film festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Dubai International Film Festival, Cairo international Film Festival, and the Carthage Film Festival. Moreover, three of its film productions; Clash, Sheikh Jackson, Yomeddine, were Egypt's official submission to the Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film category. Film Clinic made many box-office hits, including Sameer, Shaheer & Baheer (2010), Banat El A'am (2012), Excuse My French (2014), and Hepta: The Last Lecture (2016). The company's latest co-productions are Gunshot (2018), Ras El Sana (2019), and the British-Egyptian film Luxor, which is currently in production.
