Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim Wins Three Awards at the Egyptian Catholic Center Cinema Festival


Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim keeps winning awards and honors from film events, as it recently won three awards at the 66th Egyptian Catholic Center Cinema Festival. The awards are the Best Film, Best Cinematography and the Jury Award for Artistic Creativity that was given toscreenwriter Ahmed Amer.
Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim was selected to participate in the festival as one of the best five Egyptian films in 2017 according to the moral and humanistic principles of the Egyptian Catholic Center Cinema Festival.

Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim had its theatrical run in the beginning of 2017,as it was first released in Egypt and then in Francein June 2017, followed by its release in Kuwait in September 2017. Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim was the first Arab film to be screened within the DIFF 365@VOX initiative. The film is set to release in more theaters soon.

The film world premiered at the 2016 Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), where it competed within the Muhr Feature competition and its lead actor Ali Sobhi won the Best Actor Award for his role in the film. Director Sherif El Bendary's debut feature Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim took part in the Mons International Love Film Festival in Belgium, making its outside the Arab world premiere, besides its participation in the 19th Rendez-Vous with French Cinema in Paris in January 2017. The film won three awards during its participation in the Final Cut Workshop at the Venice International Film Festival.

Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim received more than 12 awards including the Samy Al Salamouny Award for Renewal and Creation to director Sherif El Bendary, Best Actress in a Supporting Role to Salwa Mohamed Ali, Best Soundtrack to Mohamed Gaber and a Certificate of Appreciation in Cinematography to Amr Farouk at the 44th Egyptian Cinema Film Association Festival. The film also won the Best Feature Film award at the 7th Malmö Arab Film Festival (MAFF) in Sweden.

Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim follows a strange love story of a young man living in a rough neighborhood. He travels across Egypt on the recommendation of a psychic along with Ibrahim who is almost driven mad by the voices he hears in his head. Their journey turns into a voyage of friendship and self-discovery.

The film stars Ali Sobhi, Ahmed Magdy, Salwa Mohamed Aly and Nahed El Sebai. Directed by Sherif El Bendary, Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim is written by Ahmed Amer, based on Ibrahim El Batout's story, and produced by Mohamed Hefzy's Film Clinic, Transit Films of Hossam Elouan,and the French film production company Arizona Productions led by Guillaume de Seille, along with Daniel Ziskind as Associate Producer. The film's distribution in the Arab world is jointly handled by MAD Solutions and Film Clinic-Indie Distribution (FCID), while its worldwide distribution is handled by the French sales agent Loco Films.
