Ahmad Al Morsy Wins Best Cinematography Award at the Alexandria Film Festival for The Originals

DOP Ahmad Al Morsy has won the Best Cinematography Award at the 33rd Alexandria International Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries, which concluded its events on Thursday, October 12th. Al Morsy received his award from the Minister of Culture, Helmy Al- Namnam, in the presence of the Governor of Alexandria, Mohamed Sultan, and the President of the Festival, critic El-Amir Abaza, during the closing ceremony held at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

This is the second award for Al Morsy at the Alexandria International Film Festival, as he received his first seven years ago for Artistic Excellence for his film Messages From The Sea (Rasa'el Al Bahr) in 2010. This year's award is the first that Al Morsy receives for his film The Originals (Al Aslyeen) by director Marwan Hamed, which was released in Egyptian cinemas during Eid al-Fitr and received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. The Originals is the second collaboration between Al Morsy and Marwan Hamed.

ARRI, the world's largest manufacturer and distributor of motion picture cameras, digital intermediate systems and lighting equipment, has picked some of DOP Ahmad Al Morsy's works in a video of its production entitled Fall, where best shots taken by the ALEXA and AMIRA cameras are shown. Al Morsy was featured in the video through some scenes from his film The Originals (Al Aslyeen), Angham's music video and the Pharco and Vodafone 4G TV commercials. This is the third year in a row for Al Morsy to be featured in a video of ARRI's best camera users.

Aside from working as a DOP for more than 20 years in the Egyptian film industry, presenting more than 50 films and winning six awards, Al Morsy became one of the most famous Arab names for shooting TV commercials in several Arab countries with a collection of more than 1000 ads for clients from Egypt, UAE, Lebanon, Morocco, Jordon, UK, France and Spain.
